The older Kulsoom is not acting well and has only one thing to say about Shahnaz, "woh to itni achi hain." I don't know if it's because I can't see her as a 13 year old or her dialogues and acting make her look like this but the older Kulsoom is coming across as someone with a low IQ level. She was shown to be smart enough to be the best student in her class.
^May be that is the point they are trying to convey that education makes a difference.
She was a bright little girl, was married off at an early age and made to leave school. She resisted initially, tried going back to her father but eventually accepted her fate, stopped trying and became dull.
She does not look 13 year old though and her dialogues are I think meant to show she is very innocent.

she's a bad actress period! the younger girl was an amazing actor! her expressions even her eyes were so intense
Watched this drama today, on ep 2, cried my eyes out what a disturbing storyline, my own daughter is 11,. I couldn't imagine such barbaric circumstances.
^ the first two episodes are difficult to watch sine they've used child actors but 3rd onwards it becomes easier. The story is progressing at a very good pace
