na i think this marriage can be worked on and saved, no layers of pain exist here, there's nothing extreme here that i see, if they can afford it why don't couples ever invest in marriage counseling early on, i see nothing really that's so bad here. as long as there is no verbal abuse combined with violence(even that might stop if the abuser realizes there is a problem and seeks help) but in this situation why can't you suggest a counselor that's geared towards stuff like this for couples.

did you get a chance to talk to her and get her side of the whole issue here? i think it's very important you do that. get it so people here can give more balanced comments rather than guessing about what's going on really with her and why she's acting like this.
