Regional Forums

Re: Regional Forums

^^ How would you do that? Like suppose I log on, do I enter a forum via the city of my interest or do I first enter say, All Views and then go into a specific city? Or are they going to be separate sections and all the current forums will link to those?

Sorry, lekin roza lag raha hai :bummer:

Re: Regional Forums

Seems like a good idea. Why not go for it.I think it would be very useful

Azkar Bhai just put up large MAP like so with active buttons for major Cities:

Good idea, but these regional forums should complement and build upon what you already have, and not replace it. The cosmopolitan nature of the forums should not be undermined. A poster is not always interested in only one regional/cultural perspective when she posts a new thread or asks for opinions about some issue. Some of the forums like Cafe`, All Views, World Affairs, Culture, Life etc. should continue to welcome participation from everyone across the cultural spectrum. Regional forums in itself could be a very good idea though. This could also encourage people with more regional outlooks.

Re: Regional Forums

Remember .. there is no threat to the content body of the current forums. i suspect there will be little traffic in these forums at the beginning .. the idea is simple. talk about local stuff. like hotels. rental cars. food. experience. current affairs. events. get togethers. politics of the city. job offers. anything that talks about the particular city. think of its the min version of craigslist for GS. but with a talk/write/board twist.

and thanks to Sagar for the wonderful suggestion. we may have a map based quickie to quickly take you right to your fav city.

lets keep talking for a bit more and keep 'em nice suggestions coming.

Re: Regional Forums

:hmmm:

each regional forum will have a governer and sub region will have a mayor and they will be elected by members of that forum only.

Re: Regional Forums

Re: Regional Forums

Worldwide. As long as there are members from a place and they can post stuff pertaining to their region, it's a go.

:)

Re: Regional Forums

a perfect example would have been to discuss the hurricane ike events in houston. we survived a massive storm. eye passed right on top of us. check where area code 77059 is ;)

Same here, I agree completely. :)

The question is: Should we start with top 10? 20? or a major metro schema? Case in example: US was the largest contributor but none of its cities are even in top 15. The reason is that US is a large country with several smaller cities producing the GS traffic. But anyway, you guys get a picture and some insight into challanges that my executive team runs into when making these kinds of changes. Keep talking and we are listening. aho.

Re: Regional Forums

Azkar Bhai i think i have idea just for the United State but it can be implemented on other countries as well.

we should start with captiol city of each state. Since you are in texas let me give you example for texas. Austin will be captiol of the state. but we have many so many guppies from Houston and DALLAS so we should define the criteria to create the new city. For example, if we have more than five guppies from Houston then we can add the new city in our map along with austin.

In similar way we can apply the same concept in other countries.
