Ayaan Hirsi Ali - renounced Islam and became a critic of Islam. Wrote the
controversial movie Submission which was directed by late Theo Van Gogh.
The movie was criticized women’s treatment by Islam. Soon to be a ‘scholar’
for American Enterprise Institute, a new-con think tank in DC.
Irshad Manji - lesbian, who’s also critical of women’s treatment in Islam. She
also accuses Muslims of complicity in the Holocaust.
Asra Nomani - friend of slain reporter Daniel Pearl, who had an illegitimate
child and then started a movement to introduce women Imams in the US.
LoL...you should hear what Non-muslims have to say about these people, well the ones who apostate, that they are their heroes, and are very courageous...they rely on these people who apostate to teach them about Islam or tell them what they want to hear.
Not familar with asra nomani so ant cmment, as far as the other 2..
idiots, complete and utter morons, both of them. take one topic, beat it to death based on the screwed up experiences due to idiotic families they come from.. Liars as proven in the case of Hirsi Ali.
The fact of the matter is that if you put them in a debate with any person with some knowledge, they would make both of them look like a bunch of ass clowns in minutes.
If you knew about Asra Nomani, you must know abt Amina Wadud. The two worked together on the whole female imam thing and had the same agenda. Wadud organized that female-led jumma prayers about a year ago, i know you must have heard abt it, it was discussed here on GS and in the news n stuff.. in a nutshell, what i can remember of her is that, she converted to Islam in the 70s..after she had converted she decided to sit down and read the Quran and she promised herself htat if she found that Islam was demeaining to women, she would leave Islam right away. Well, she realized it wasn't and stayed a Muslim..
What I meant in my earlier post is that I am not aware of any perceived grievance she had with muslims that'd have led her to publically attempt to humiliate Muslims.
These charlatns pose as reformers but thier intentions are suspect.
If these people truly wanted to reform muslims, they'd work closely with Muslims without disparaging them. They don't! They used the post 9/11 environment -- in which people viewed muslims as backward, intolerant, and a violent lot -- to paint muslims in extremely poor light. There are many in media outlets who are receptive to their message and gave people like Manji lot of air time; fame came to Manji who seems to be doing very well. So is Hirsi Ali. I don't know whether Asra Nomani has receive kind of financial backing Manji and Hirsi has received but she'll get lot of media attention once Daniel Pearl movie (starring Brad Pitt) is released. I heard Ms. Nomani is already making rounds on radio talk shows.
I can't really comment on all these women, because I think I only know of one of them - the rest are news to me. But this raises an interesting issue: If we treated each other better as muslims, maybe we wouldn't be causing so many divisions and driving each other way from not only other muslims but from Islam as well. Of course, the individual is always responsible for their own actions, but hey, I can imagine the chic having a child out of wedlock would have faced some serious reaction from her community.
If people would just bind their own business and treat each other as they would like to be treated, that would take care of most problems.
There is no such thing as a perfect community; there are always dissenters and critics. Criticism and introspection are vital for a dynamic community. The question is manner of these individuals' assault on the community and their opportunism.
What's the political atmosphere under which they've expressed their views?
To whom have they looked for support? How many Muslim supporters have they won with their disparaging, antagonistic (sp?), and often insulting rhetoric? Are these the actions of true reformers?
