Re: Recipes - Step by Step Pictures
Okay this Afghani pulao:
looks so yum and I want to try it but I’ve never made pulao in my life before (only recently learned how to cook chawwal…) and I need more details!!!
One cup onion broth
Brown 1 medium diced onion in oil. Fry until the onion is fairly dark add a cup of water cook for 2/3 min and stain with strainer.*

For this part, when you are straining the water, I don’t get it. What happens to the onion? Do you end up with black water and you bin the onion? How much do you fry the onion? Is it till they become crunchy, or do you still want them soft? I wish you had pictures of the onion… ![]()
One cup chicken broth
In a pan add chicken with few garlic cloves, black pepper, cinnamon and salt, and cook it on a low heat for 20/25 min. separate chicken from the yakhni.

Okay this I completely don’t understand. Separate chicken from yakhni? What yakhni? How much water do you put in the chicken? And where did the yellow water come from what is that?
The rest I think I understand. So excited to make this I really wanna try, I hope it turns out nice!!

Re: Recipes - Step by Step Pictures
Since this thread is all about pics, it doesn’t matter how simple the recipe is, right? I had been meaning to try this apps…err…I mean the recipe and almost took pics of every step, until it became a bit tiresome and I lost interest (happens to me a lot).
You need tuna canned in oil. The recipe called for the one in olive oil, but eh…couldn’t find it. This is the one I used.
Can looks cute, huh!
Throw the tuna and some of the oil from the can in a bowl. (Trust me, tuna looked way better in real…here it looks a bit blurry and…um…bubbly…if that’s the word we can use to describe tuna)
Now chop scallion…(recipe called for the green part only, but of course I read it much too late)
Into the bowl…See here tuna looks much more delectable.
Then we add bell pepper…just want to show a gorgeous shot of it before I ruined it.
And now all sliced and diced…
With tuna
Add some chilli flakes
In goes lemon juice and mayo…(couldn’t show the pic of adding lemon juice…cuz I have a confession to make…I used…lime juice…but you must MUST use lemon juice…why?..cuz recipe said so!) Throw in some thyme (fresh, not dried…which obviously I didn’t have so I used dried one)…but you must MU…ah…never mind.
Spread the mixture on a bread…they said to use ciabatta, but honestly how many desi households have ciabatta and capers lying around…yes we were supposed to add capers too…I didn’t! Looks pretty…anyone notice the blurrying effect…ahem.
Layer it with cheese…I used havarti.
Now toss them in the oven which should have been set at the broiler a few minutes before you plonked them in the oven…you wouldn’t have known this unless you had read the recipe from top to bottom. So the lesson learned today is to read the recipe before you venture out to whip it up.
The ooey gooey goodness…yum…it was delicious!
Apps on the other hand was disappointing.
