and please do tell me how do u rate their makeup and who would u recommend.? i am really looking for the signature lines where the artist should apply the base by herself and do the A to Z make up by herself. i am not sure that wether in case of siffat, she applies the base by herself or the workers.?

yeah that too muchhh.... looking for the rest of the rates... plus mariam khawaja's rude attitude is bothering me now...she used to be very sweet in the start... one of my friend got her barat and walima's make up by her...she got one hour late to parlor on her walima...n her coordinator said that she has to pay 5000 fine otherwise mariam is not going to do her make up... n when she talked to mariam then she said rules are rules...she is helpless and she has to pay the fine...so she had to pay 40,000 for walima makeup plus 5000 fine... because she couldnot do anything else on the last moments...
^ no at madeeha's base n hair are done by assistants rest everything by madeeha herself...whereas at mariam's base is done by mariam herself n hair by assistant.

Hi Nina! I went to Mariam khawaja on my baraat in Dec 2011 and had a WONDERFUL experience. I also decided to go Mariam after reading tons of positive reviews about her work on this forum. ur friend is surely lying, i was among alot of brides and Mariam was superb with each one. Believe me she was VERY SWEET and attentive with all of us.... So many of my friends have gone to Mariam and have all had the same opinion that she is really nice....and we have all gotten married recently between dec 2011-march 2012.
As for the fine, 2 brides were late when I was there and they paid a fine of 2000 each...no1 was charged 5000...so again maybe your friend is exaggerating.
If the charges are out of budget for any1, there are plenty of other options to choose from but I went to Mariam Khawaja and it was totally worth it!!!! you should look up her fb page and see the amount of girls thanking her for their makeup and experience....I doubt some1 with an attitude would have that kind of response from clients.
^ ahmm ... the ladies at mariam's shared how much fine the two brides paid with you? or u just overheard them ? either scenario is weird and not the level of comfort a bride is looking for on her big day ... even if the brides were fined ... the whole affair shudve have been taken care of in other ways .. or whatever ... no one cares about 2 - 5 grand on their big day .. but the person charging 40+ k shudve realized that instead.
it wud sure get me frustrated.
its a big day for the bride and a thousand things can come up .. so what if brides were an hr late ? they didnt come at the last moment or did they ? im prone to be late where ever i go and not paying 2 -5 k isnt the worry here .. its the stress .. why do that?
too bad cuz i want to go to mariam's too. oh well .. at least i know that i shud carry an extra 2 - 5 k :P

AHMM...When you DO go to Mariam's, all brides sit together and chit chat...so its easy to know who came late.... the fine is mentioned on the appointment card....so there is no element of "suprise" and the receptionist told me when I went for my prebridal services that I should be on time otherwise I will be fined....seemed quite professional to me.

can i just say.....all prices quoted above are like soooooo much cheaper than what we have to pay here abroad for decent make up and not to mention...the salons do hair and dupatta setting and all the other **** they have to do...so im no complaining at all :D make up in pakistan = Bargain!!!!
for the person complaining about the fine etc....can i just say if you come one fking hour late 1) its not acceptable here 2) you LOOSE your appointment so a fine is nothing compared to not having a make up artist on your WEDDING day!!
1 hour late is ridiculous on the brides part...and the excuse "its my wedding day" just doesnt cut it!!! so maybe your friend needs a lesson in Time management!!!
^ sure? no need to curse ... brides do tend to get outta control ... but we do have a freedom of speech here on this forum which everyone likes to exercise
im getting married this yr and i was applying the situation to myself ........... i dont wana pay half a grand to someone who aint respecting the fact tht i am paying for stress-free services ... fine im one hr late and no i cudnt be on time for xyz reasons and oh wait ill call to confirm if its okay and then pay 2-5 grand which doesnt mean anything to me on my big day ..
its JUST the level of stress for the bride. recent brides have been complaining about this certain someone and id take their word any day ... the word "rude" is coming up a lot for their dealings which is Un Un Unacceptable.
i have got my nikah make up done at new look. though make up looks great but it was a horrible experience. when we first went to have a look on a portfolio the lady (who i think was the manager) doesnt seems interested in explaining anything at all. she gave me the album and thats it worst is if you ask any question the answer was when you will pay and book an appointment we will explain it to you.
i didnt wanted to book her as i was not impressed but my sister keep nagging me she wants me to get my make up done as she had some of her friends who have their bridals done by new look and apparently they look. stunning.
anyways to cut long story short i booked herand paid her 25000 in advance and the rest has to pay at first appointment. we specifically ask for a girl who has done my sister`s friends make up i cannot remember her name but she is i think senior artist or something. the total package was 35000 including services (facial polisher mani pedi waxing (you have to pay seperately for eye brows).
on my day of facial i was the only customer in salon and all staff was busy chatting and provide services to each other :). they didnt really paid any attention to me. tha girl who was doing my facial applied polisher on my face and left me alone in the room which is fine as most salon staff does that but when she did not come back after 20 mintues i had to ask one of the cleaners to get her. another 10 minutes passed and nobody comes in and here i was sitting with bleach on my face and my face was literally burning now. i had to get up and wash it with tap water myself then i went out and get her i cannot tell you how furious i was as i never left bleach on my face more then 5 minutes anyway. i called the manager and all the staff was around me and they keep insisting it is only 15 minutes. in the end manager or whoever she was appologised and get me some ice. she was nice though or may be just trying to as i wanted to forward a complaint about them.
after that day every thing seems alright on my next appointment they were attentive trying to be friendly. make up artist was nice and everybody told me i looked fab on my nikah ceremony. but couple of days after nikah i got really dark skin around my lips i dont if it was burnt skin due to bleach or substandard make up prodcuts.
but i had to see my gp when i came back to uk. and he told me not apply any wash or anything gave me some medicated ointments and told me to wash face with cold water he thought it is due to bleach.
i would never ever go back to that salon ever in my life. my tip would be if you want to go to newlook do not book services if you have to then tell them to be professional and you would not take any carelessness on their part. i hope it helps if somebody is thinking to book newlook.
