Re: Reading the Quran is Sawab?
i too am waiting to see the evidence about the hadith about sawab even without understanding. unless i see it i will have hard time believing it. quran is overwhelmed with the reference to those who understand. although reading quran does have sawab, as described in hadith, but quran was actually sent down for implementation in our lives and for implementation we have to understand.
so i would assume that reading with out understanding is good, but understanding and implementing is better. i am not even a student of knowledge so cant be definitive but i think it is safe to say that a person who reads quran alot but does not implement it is worse than a person who reads it a lot less but implements as much as he can. wallah o alam
And the example of those who disbelieve, is as that of him who shouts to the (flock of sheep) that hears nothing but calls and cries. (They are) deaf, dumb and blind. So they do not understand. (Al-Baqarah 2:171)
And there is (a saving of) life for you in Al-Qisâs (the Law of Equality in punishment), O men of understanding, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2). (Al-Baqarah 2:179)
Thus Allâh makes clear His Ayât (Laws) to you, in order that you may understand. (Al-Baqarah 2:242)
He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding. (Al-Baqarah 2:269)
It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and has given you a place of residing (on the earth or in your mother's wombs) and a place of storage [in the earth (in your graves) or in your father's loins]. Indeed, We have explained in detail Our revelations (this Qur'ân) for people who understand. (Al-An'am 6:98)
