Why do people read and write poetry?
Is it because it makes easy to understand other’s feelings?
People take their anger, stress, happiness and make it into something worth reading.

I think thats more or less the reason.
I suppose poetry is also a way to express something artisticly and sometimes even hide the meaning in a cloak and smoke screen, becuase many poets intend deep meanings for the audience but they may not be able to convey that meaning... either due to social pressures or even legal matters.

^Agreed.Poetry appeals to so many people is because it is often based on the writer's emotional response to something.
One of my friend thinks, poetry is for old people,when people get older they read poetry. I dun believe in it.A lot of young people do have a lot of interest in it. They read and write poetry.Moreover, poetry comes from the deep.

poetry helps to understand human experiences, intricacies of language, enrich soul, appreciate the relationship of a human with other human beings and also with Allah...these are just a few points among others.
as to why anyone would write poetry is just the God given ability and the desire to express oneself. it's an art form that is good for your leisure time and through poetry you can make a difference in someone's life...emotionally, spiritually and/or intellectually! :)

I gotta say this I wish I was a better poet sometimes... believe me its not something just for the old people... I suppose poetry is also the mother of song. You dont have to be old to enjoy sangeet so you dont need to be old to enjoy the power of verse

Actually in old times poetry was meant for educated and refined persons...
People used to discuss poetry,grammar...but now we dont see people discussing grammar..
those who had command over language were able to understand poetry and grammar...
People like Muqawwee bhai,KKF bhai understand and discuss poetry more often...as they have good command over urdu...
