What are your fave restaurants in Birmingham? We live around Solilhull sides and tend to have a take-away mostly Friday or Saturday nights - also we do tend to eat out at restaurants quite often for family gatherings, social events - and i was hoping ppl culd tell me which are their fave desi restaurants/take-aways around Bham?
I've heard alot about the Jimmy Spices, but funnily enough i've never tried their food - was it proper desi style? (btw, where are u staying now then? u sed u use to stay in Solihull, have u moved out of UK or sumthng?)
Jimmy spices is a mixture of many cuisines - its a buffet of Mexican , Italian , Chinese and Indian
Its suited for parties because you have variety to suit different tastes…
I used to stay in touchwood hall close , near the town center
i had come to Uk on a WP for some assignment
I have returned to India since then
Ladypool Rd has the best ones I guess.........and there are quite a few good ones on Coventry Rd too; last one I went to was Zaika,......the food was good but you have to wait ages at restaurants....:( Thats what I hate.
I've tried pretty much all the reputable places. In all honesty all the currys have been crap. The only restaurant worthy of a recommendation is Al-Faisal on Stoney Lane; round the corner from Lahore.
Lahore Kabab House do nice Kebabs surprise surprise. Deserts not bad either. Samosas microwaved = yuck. Currys taste crap.
The other decent place is Kafe Karachi. Nice Seekh Kebabas, nans and top masala fish. Cheaper than other places, has the Pakistan feel to it with hustling, TV blasting etc... I often make a visit here to feel like a Pakistani again.
Yeh, but sometimes the atmosphere of it is spoilt by the youths "rioting"...especially around the week after EID............
We tried Saffron a few weeks back..it was OK...a bit cramped though...
In Birmingham, I still love Imran's on Ladypool Road and there's apparently a new one on Stratford Road...heading away from town towards where Gohil Emporium is.....
If anyone is ever in Leicester then try Zaytoun or Mughal Darbar...they are both yummy...
Nawaabs in Manchester is ok-and its away from wimm rd, and then theres Karim’s in Middleton/Heywood-thts supposed 2 be really nice 2…and if u not all for the hustle-bustle of manchester-then bradford is only down the m62 about half an hour away!..anam’s mumtaz, ambala-all on greater horton rd-r tops!
ps wats wrong with the rioting youths?! …ur communicating with one right now!
ok so ur going mumtaz…u need 2 try some of the following:
mango lassi
keema parantha
masala fish…
and then all the standard…(ps the desserts arent all that-last time i had the ras malai…a few weeks ago…it tasted a bit stale…but ate it anyways! )
