Before this game started it was confidently predicted that Razzaq would have no impact with the ball but the Pak management decided to pick him any probably hoping he might score some runs.
Let’s see how he does over the course of the game and who got it right the Razzaq critics or the Pak management.
Day 1:
No impact bowling in his first spell offset by young Shabbir’s fine opening burst removing two batsmen early.
Razzaq's bowling will never be of any of use in Test matches. He is a good ODI bowler because of his tight line and length. Like I have said before, he is a very good all-rounder for ODI's and should be kept just for ODI's. He does not deserve a place in the Test Team.
U Guys are going through exactly what i went through in ENglands tour to pak in 2000....where Paki team managment (Lead by captain and person behind him, who everybody knows )decided to open the bowling with Akrem, and Razaaq. and eventually lost the series....watching Pak lose that series was the worst experience of watchinga test series in pak in my life.
Razzaq takes his first wicket and it's a big one, Gary Kirsten. Like I said earlier, the only batsmen I could see him getting out were the left handers with the angle, I don't see him getting a right-handed batsman out as he's probably not quick enough
^^ But he nearly had MAckenzie lbw on two occassions. Yes he troubles Left handers as the ball moves away from em but if he bowls wicket to wicket with nagging length, he can maintain this sorta pressure, he can trouble right handers as well. So far in his second spell, he is spot on.
Well let's see if he gets any right-handers out. My view is that although he can get the ball reversing a bit, at that speed they can probably adjust in time. He's bowling quite accurately but in test matches you need wickets at the end of it. Let's see what his final analysis is at the end of the innings.
An overall good day for Razzaq, after a poor first spell. His figures of 2/62 off 19 overs at an economy rate of 3.3 are good. The ball with which he bowled Boucher was a beauty and left the batsmen stranded on the crease as the ball went right thorugh him to knock his bails off. :k:
The ball he got Boucher with was a beauty and he did ok overall. I don't like bowlers who don't have variety and Razzaq's only delivery is the one which slants in to the right hander and away from the left. Still he got 2 good wickets today so he did his job.
If he can get another couple of wickets next innings and get a few runs he'll have justified his selection but I personally would have picked Gul ahead of him.

I would have gone with Gul as well, but I can understand PCB's reluctance to have a long tail in the absence of the two S's.
Let's hope Razzaq can perform with the bat and then get a few wickets in the second innings as well.
I agree about the tail but it's risky going into a game with only one genuine seam bowler. I think Shabbir showed today just how important it is to have proper strike bowlers but given that Gul isn't established properly yet the decision was understandable and at least it hasn't backfired so far.
Six of the nine wickets fell to our medium fast bowlers, so i don't know why Shabbir and Razzaq were underestimated.
He bowled well, more like his usual one day bowling, but he was right on the mark, his dismissal of Boucher was a beauty.
Shabbir has proven to be a good bowler, he stuck to his line and length and was rewarded with wickets.
Just goes to show you, you don't need pace to do well on flat pitches.
I definitly want to see more of Shabbir in the future, he was my bowler of the day.
