Razzaq-Watch

Actually today Razzaq was the one who made a difference by picking crucial wickets of Kirsten , Boucher and Kallis. SA could have ended with lead of around 370 in similar number of overs had it not been for Razzaq’s wickets…

Good job :k:

Razqi bhai :k:

I think Razzaq showed what he is today, a competent 3rd seamer. Very limited ability with the new ball, but can get the ball to jag back quite sharply with the old one once it starts reversing. Shabbir Ahmed on the other hand looked dangerous throughout, both when we were attacking and when we were rstricting the run rate.

I firmly believe that Razzaq is ideally placed to be your third seamer cum all rounder in the team and that's how we should use him and not as an opening bowler like we did in this test.

^^ Yes thats what i was gonna say. Today Ramiz was saying that i m perplexed why Razzaq has lost his pace because he was much faster than he is right now and he asked Robin Jackman the same question. He said it might have been due to injury fears etc etc.

Razzaq can be a regular in tests (infact in direct competition with Malik) and either of them can play keeping in mind wicket and conditions.

After watching the match, Razzaq was inconsistent @ times.
Sometimes he bowled his heart out and was gifted with wickets like today and other times he looks like an ordinary seemer like the way he bowled yesterday.
I still don't consider him as a test player, he is a good one day allrounder.
For an allrounder to play test, he should be atleast dominant in one dept, Razzaq unfortunatly is an avg bowler and a mediocore batsman, he doesn't have what it takes to either score a century or bowl consistenly, I would stick with him for one dayers.
He is an economical bowler and a good pinch hitter.

^^

Couldn’t agree more Umair :k:

SA were headed for 400 in their 2nd innings due to the lack of strike bowlers in our side. Razzaq has done a decent job but after watching this test now I know how Indians feel when they can’t knock over stubborn partnerships through decisive bowling and rely on medium pace trundlers.

Interestingly, Razzaq dismissed both Boucher And Kirsten in both innings and both got out in identical ways. Kirsten was out cutting the ball and edging to Taufeeq, same delivery same shot, same catcher. Boucher was bowled with dito delievery and ditto shot.

interesting !!

Razzaq is/was never a strike bowler. I still think of him as a decent 2nd tier bowler in test and odi both. He can come on as first change in both forms of cricket.

He can score runs (he has shown in both forms) and can go as a qurbani ka bakra (night watch man i mean) when needed.

hmm. Razzaq. i wonder why he doesn't put more effort into his bowling. He just runs in half heartedly, bowls, tunrs around, and repeats..like a robot. A lot of people over here agree with this. Even Dean Jones and Robin jackman said the same thing about him. He doesn't steam in..he doesnt run hard. Look at Kallis or Pollock or Klusener or Andy Bichel for a comparison. They are all-rounders, but they all put as much effort into their batting, as their bowling except perhaps Bichel who is more of a bowling all-rounder. I just can't understand why he won't put more effort into his bowling. That is all.

you will see him as Pakistani Cap. soon :D

24 test matches 1001 runs, 3 X 100, 4 X 50, average is 29.44 and 48 wickets.

144 ODI, 2663 runs, 1 X 100, 14 X 50, average is 28.03, 171 wickets 4 times 4 and 3 times 5 or more wickets.

i guess he is good player and should stay in pakistani team for atleast next 4, 5 years.
