Razia Butt's "Saiqa"

Razia butt’s famous novel “Saiqa” is dramatized and televised on Hum TV.

so anyone is following it?

Nope, but sounds interesting. I have a cousin named Saiqa, and I believe she was named after the drama character.

In early 70's Laiq Akhtar directed a movie "SAIQA" for Agha G.A. Gul's EVERNEW Productions based on Razia Butt's novel..which had; Mohammad Ali, Shamim Ara, Asad Jaffery, Ragni and Lehri in cast.

It was baiscally a family story where cousins fall in love but the intricacies of bulandi and pastee on richness etc...creates problems...which ends well as most of the then films did !

SAIQA did box office business for its wonderful songs and location--being majorly the famous SAIGOL LODGE in Murree.

I saw some shoot of Mohammad Ali and Asad Jaffery's scenes--as Asad was my good friend and it was his courtesy that me and my friend..on vacations in Murree..then...witnessed the shoot.

Actually I now remember reading in a magazine a collection of classic desi love stories. The collection included the ones most people are familiar with such as Laila/Majnoo, Heer/Ranjha, Soni/Mahiwal......and there was also the story about a cousin romance where the heroine was named Saiqa.

So, I'm guessing that the drama, Saiqa, is based on the classic story/tale of a cousin romance.

i dont watch it,Juggun is misfit for the character of gauon ki larki,us ka look aisa nahi hai..sabreen would b better choice..
same in sarwat case,her dialogue delivery is awful

aaj kal ke directors/writers casting ka "gur" nahi jaantey. ache dramas mein hamesha ya ya to actor ko dekh kar character likhey jaate hain ya phir aisey actors dhoondhtey hain jo chaacter pe fit beithey.lekin aaj kal sirf ye dekhtey hain jo "in" hai commercially successful hai ussey cast kar lo.

can anyone post a pic of Juggan? I think a lot of Hum TV actors we don't see on ary or geo so have no idea who they are.

not at all... she has done best performance in Mano salwa...

n then in Pyassi, though was not upto the mark

People who hate juggun for her face or speaking style, must realize that she does justice with her character. If she fails then still she can't be blamed becoz it would b director's fault who could be unable to extract the required things

^^ juggun was so wooden in manosalwa. i understand her character was suppose to be all snooty and self obsessed but when she talked, she sounded more like her dialogues were ratta-fied, they had no emotions, no life. she had the SAME expression from the first scene till the end. that's not a powerful performance, it's more of a call for help for better acting lessons. in pyaasi, she was definitely better though but she's not cut out to be an actress or a model. doing cheap and bold international projects doesn't mean you are an actress.

i think jugaan is doing a gud job in Saiqa nd the character of saiqa is not of a typical village girl…jst a badly snubbed girl…the story is goig gud btw…

i dnt think she's doing good job..in MOS she wz great but poor performance in saiqa..she should not accept these types of characters..sanam baloch would b better choice

OMG i love this drama, i watched the whole thing on youtube and can’t wait for the rest, finally a drama which truly does justice to the novel/story its based on! more shocking is the discovery that Mikaal and Juggun can finally act! very good portrayal of their characters, much better play than other adaptations on air like ‘tair e lahoti’ and ‘dil diya dehleez’, both are disasters as far as casting and character portrayal is concerned.

its sarwat gillani who actually plays the gaoon ki larki in the first half of the play, i like the second half better where Juggan, her daughter, comes in and who is raised as a present day cinderella in the haveli surrounded by mean and nasty relatives. and for once she actually looks the part of the victim, absolutely no makeup, messed up hair, very dowdy clothes.

yep it is, in the second half. it is quite romantic, the cousin (ahsan khan) who made her life hell ends up falling head over heels for her and thankfully no over-acting so far.
