Razai, Kambal, Lihaaf

Are these different items or different names of same item?

:hmmm:

Re: Razai, Kambal, Lihaaf

they are all different items.

liHaaf = heavy duty comforter [stuffed spun cotton] and is threaded across length and breadth. used in bed...used in colder wintery nights.

Razai/dulaaii = lighter form of liHaaf...very thinly stuffed spun cotton...used inside and outside the house [as substitute to overcoats] and in bed during light winter nights.

Kambal = is factory made and is not stuffed. it's lighter like Razai/dulaaii and has pretty much the same usage as Razai / dulaaii

Re: Razai, Kambal, Lihaaf

main samjha Asmat Chughtai key book Lihaaf ka zikar ho raha hay :smack2:

Re: Razai, Kambal, Lihaaf

So that’s why Asmat used word Lihaaf :wink:

liHaaf = heavy duty comforter [stuffed spun cotton] and is threaded across length and breadth. used in bed…used in colder wintery nights.

Re: Razai, Kambal, Lihaaf

liHaaf ke moHaavaratan kuchh manfii pahloo bhii haiN…the phrase containing the word liHaaf has some negative connotations and probably that’s why Ismat ChuGhtai used this word for har novel.

Bollywood comedian Jagdeep [jo ek bhullakkaR professor ke role meN the] kaa famous dialogue:

“jaanaa thaa vishwviddyaalai, pahoNch gayaa shauchaalai” :cb:

vishwviddyaalai = university
shauchaalai = toilet
