Re: Raytheon offers ‘radiation gun’ to India to quell protests in Kashmir
Southie, the problem here isnt of denial. We all know about the Pandits, and we all sympathize.
Firstly, the issue here is simply that Indian blow the Pandit issue way out of proportion. I dont doubt that there were many unfortunate Pandits who were killed and expelled, but their plight is not what the Indians make it out to be. And regardless, this in way justifies Indias ongoing occupation.
Secondly, they use the Pandit tragedy to deflect criticism for ONGOING atrocities being inflicted on the current residents of Kashmir.
Sadly, the Pandits have become nothing more then a cliche at this point. The Indians often cite the Pandits, whoever or where ever they are, as soon as someone critisizes India over its role in Human rights violations. Infact this is a common Indian narrative that they often employ in debates on Kashmir. This along with othr gems such as “when will Pakistans Army leave Azad KAshmri?” or “The Kashmiris participated in elections so they must have accepted India!”
Personally I think its disgusting that these people would use the Pandits to justify their own atrocities. It also exposes the prejudice of these people, who will scream at the top of their lungs in support of the Hindu Pandits, but will never raise a voice in support of Kashmri Muslims who continue to live in the Valley, despite also being Indian, in the estimation of most actual Indians.
