Rate your opener on the scale of 1-10. 10 being the best opener ever played for any team.
since present Pakistani openers are not that great, so I am trying to find the “Andhon mein kana Raja”. Here is my rating
Butt 6
Afridi 5 (should only open on sub-continental tracks excluding Sri Lanka!)
Malik (has opened in the past) 4
Imran Nazir (only in the one-dayers) 5
other than salman butt (who still needs to improvement) none of the openers have even shown signs of ever filling in saeed anwar's shoes....
imran nazir shows a glimpse of being a good opener once every 25 matches, other than that we've got no openers....
afridi is same at the opening spt as he wud be on #11 so cant classify him as an opener....
Yaasir Hameed + Taufeeq Umer + Kamran Akmal + Mohammad Hafeez + Imran Farhat + Imran Nazir + Salman Butt + Shahid Afridi + Shoaib Malik
They can fluctuate anywhere from a scale of 1 to 10 on any given day. Honorable mentions (shout-outs) to the king of bandana-maker Imran Farhat for fluctuating very unpredictably for all of last year.

Best openers to play for any team are Saeed Anwar, Gilchrist, Hayden, Jaysuriya and others. With that in mind, these openers will make a combined rating of 0.
If you mean "Pakistan has ever produced" than;
Yasir 2
Taufeeq 2
Akmal 1, even though he is a great late order batsman, but has failed miserably has an opener.
Hafeez 1
Farhat 2
Nazir 2
Butt 3
Afridi 2
Malik 1
The only thing Salman Butt has proved so far is that unlike others, he can actually bat on flat wickets. He lacks aggression. There were many instances where he was playing defensive cricket. I liked the Salman Butt of 2005 India and England series. In those series Butt, even with mistakes and flaws, played with some sense of mission. He had a target in mind, right now, not so much. I have been watching him since the Abu Dhabi series and he is not taking the initiative away from the opponents.
Based on this poll, we can see Butt and Nazir as people's choice (so far). Interesting, I wonder if we should give this pair a shot :).
Well thats what I have been crying for at the Indian tour. I'm pretty sure both openers as a pair would have done some more damage to the Indians.
Nevermind, games over.

I do not think Saeed Anwar consistently performed at the same level as lets say Hayden. But interestingly, his highs were very high. On his day he could have out-performed anyone in the world. His innings of 194 runs took just 147 balls. Compare it with Viv Richards 189 which took 167 balls. Twice in his ODI career, he had 3 hundreds in a row, followed by a run of many inconsistent and below par performances. He was the sweetest timer of the ball that I have seen though, indeed a very very talented player.
