Raspberry Pi Thread

I was going to start the r-pi questions in that other thread for Kodi, but then thought it deserves one of it own.

So, I have done an install or two and played around with pi but I want to see what everyone else is using. I just got the new Pi 2 and was going to start a fresh install. What distro should I use? Here are the items I’m looking for:

-Kodi
-on a 32gb card
-Plex support
-what else??

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

I have beaglebone, some what same kind of thing as r-pie.
I put debian distribution on it. (very easy to burn it on sd(small) drive procedure is on the net)
Then I did attache usb cam and took pictures(I have code if you need it)
Then I drove stepper motor with it using r-pie python library.(its easy as well)

So I have enough to build a small picture taking boat :D

I can attach other things I have experience with sensor too a little. Like temperature/ultrason/infrared etc. I want to play with gyroscope now.

I do have brushless motors when I have time I am going to start making quadcopter.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

Wow monk, u always blow me away. Pretty soon you’ll say you have a submarine at the jetty which you are going to power with a pi. :hehe:
OSM work brother.

i’m trying to get comfortable with this platform and get some power use out of it for now. Looks like a good thread here. Keep posting ur feats.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

I have the stock pi OS installed on mine. Wanted to do some cool project with it but time got away. Maybe this will get me back in the game. I am getting a metricom G-box for my xbmc/kodi.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

Here are a couple other threads we had on raspberry pi.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

I remembered teh first one but searched for it and nothing showed up so started another. You can merge them if you'd like.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

nah. I added the other 2 links as references. We can keep them like this.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

There is hardly any skill involved
Just have interest.
Try playing with dc motor or LEDs first. connect it with gpio and run it with python or some thing.
Its fun.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

Nerds!

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

Maybe you guys can install FreePBX on Pi and build a VOIP server...( and maybe sell it on eBay for like 100 bucks or so.. .)

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

I think may be we can give jadoo TV some competition.

Re: Raspberry Pi Thread

That is a great idea!
