Re: Rape capital of India
** Her name was Damini and she was abt to marry in Feburary!** Indian gang-rape victim cremated, was due to marry in Feb. New Delhi: The victim of a gang-rape and murder which triggered an outpouring of grief and anger across India was cremated at a private ceremony on Sunday as it emerged she was planning to get married in February.
The unidentified 23-year-old, the focus of nationwide protests since she was brutally attacked on a bus in New Delhi two weeks ago, was cremated away from the public glare only hours after her body was repatriated from Singapore.
The funeral pyre was lit after traumatised relatives and friends said their final prayers at a ceremony in southwestern Delhi, according to mourners who revealed she had been due to wed a boyfriend who was injured in the same attack.
“They had made all the wedding preparations and had planned a wedding party in Delhi” for February, said Meena Rai, who was a close friend and neighbour.

“I really loved this girl. She was the brightest of all.”
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the main ruling Congress party, were at Delhi airport to console her parents as they arrived home on a chartered plane with their daughter’s body at around 4:00 am (2230 GMT).
After initial treatment in a Delhi hospital following the attack, she was flown to Singapore on Wednesday night. But doctors were unable to prevent a multiple organ failure and she was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday.
Her death has prompted government promises of better protection for women, and deep soul-searching in a nation where sex crimes are a daily occurrence and sexual harassment is routinely dismissed as “Eve-teasing”.
Waves of protests have erupted across India since the attack on the night of December 16 when the woman was not only repeatedly raped but also sexually assaulted with an iron bar, leaving her with terrible intestinal injuries.
Thousands took part in late-night candlelit vigils Saturday after Singh led appeals for calm to prevent a repeat of the sometimes violent protests.
As police said the six accused of murdering the unnamed woman could face the death penalty, there was a widespread determination that the killing would serve as a tipping point for how the nation deals with violence against women.
“We are aware that this is not the first case, nor will it be the last case of gang-rape in India, but it is clear that we will not tolerate sex crimes any more,” said Bela Rana, a lawyer who joined a rally in central Delhi.
The city has been dubbed the “rape capital” of India. A report in Sunday’s Hindustan Times said more than 20 women had been raped there since December 16.
According to police and prosecutors, the murder victim’s ordeal began when six men lured her and her male companion onto a bus that they thought would take them home.

Instead a group of joyriders, who had been drinking heavily, launched a savage attack lasting some 40 minutes that only ended when the victims were thrown off the bus.
The attack has prompted intense debate among Indians who had grown almost inured to an epidemic of violence against women.
Gang-rapes are so common that they rarely get a mention in the newspapers. Victims are often deterred even from reporting them for fear of shaming their families or receiving a brush-off from police.
The Times of India said in an editorial Sunday that two key questions must be addressed in the aftermath of the tragedy.
“What exactly will the government do now to make the country a safer and better place for all women? And what will all of us do to tackle deeply entrenched prejudice and misogyny in our society?”

Re: Rape capital of India
aah poor girl. May be her name was inspired from Raj Kumar Santoshi's movie 'Damini', a story about a woman's fight against a rape victim. :(

Re: Rape capital of India
You talk about Rape?
Let me remind you about a nation called Kashmir.
Women of whole village was raped in front of their men. Women, girls, mothers, sisters n…obody was spared. They resisted but torture was the reaction of oppressor. There was a woman whose life was ruined by electric shocks in her private parts.
You talk about humanity?
There was a bride in a village. It was her wedding day. Beasts ruined her life. She and her aunt was raped by BSF…but wait, they are for security…so do not shout, do not protest you terrorists.
You talk about injustice?
There was a brother who was kept on gunpoint by army, and two of his sisters were raped in next room…he said i was hearing cries of sisters and laughs of beasts…But, it wasn’t “DELHI” though
You talk about Rights?
There was a 9th standard girl…all innocent and childish, her cloths were torn and kept naked for days…yes, by security forces…so shhhh…dont say a word
There was a village where they treated females as hurd of animals…
There was a mother, a sister who went to fields, all happy… alas they came back on four shoulders, fell prey to the lust of beasts…
But bodies were drowned, stressfull allegations.. plans by ISI, suicides, probes, cross border terrorism, Pakistan
Hence proved… Rape is a myth, nothing ever happened…
Damini ( rape victim ) was lucky that world went on rampage to share her pain. when Aasiya And Nelofar ( rape victims ) of Kashmir were raped nobody uttered a word.
More than 9000 women have been raped in Kashmir alone. Corrupt government officials and police rapists roam free yet women fear for their honor and lives.
Re: Rape capital of India
why only Kashmir. why we forget atrocities and rapes committed by Pak army in East Pakistan resulting Bangla Desh. ![]()
Re: Rape capital of India
^ exactly the issue is not about delhi, india , pakistan, its more about woman, wherever, whatever, ppl should respect them n these incidents should not happen,
Re: Rape capital of India
I was trying to avoid seeing her picture.
Terrible.
Re: Rape capital of India
So you basically are saying you have one tract mind.
No matter what happens anywhere in the world, you will bash Pakistan or Islam at the end of your every sentence. Right?
And I hope justice is done in this matter and your confidence on India's justice system comes true at least in this case.
Yup, this is a pakistani forum, and being a Pakistani, i wil relate things to Pakistan, especially when those things DIRECTLY relate to Pakistan.
Ireland has nothing to to do with Pakistan in and of itself. But stupidity based on religious laws DOES relate to Pakistan. Anywhere in the world where stupidity is the by product of religious extremism, then that relates directly to Pakistan. I thought the formula would make it easier for you to comprehend?!?
Indians for their part are generally very sensitive to particular issues in their society. The dynamics of change CREATE the impetus for further change. The rise of India over the last 2 decades means a society that is awake to such issues. I dont think they can sweep this under the rug so easily.
Re: Rape capital of India
We should stop having such sexually repressive societies and start treating women with respect. Also, please, control your lust.
Re: Rape capital of India

Whatever happened in India or Ireland are DIRECTLY related to Pakistan?
Which religious laws of Pakistan caused this incidence of rape in India?
Anyhow, I said basically you were saying you have one tract mind and this answer (Yup) would have been sufficient. No reason to give lame excuses or make false claims.
P.S. Please don’t bother answering above questions, you will make a fool of yourself further.
Re: Rape capital of India
She was a student
She was 23
Her fault some people say because she boarded the wrong bus
And oh yeah

Devastated
What’s more is that no one even turned to look at her
No one even bothered to throw a shawl on the ill-clad
ill-fated girl
She can never live a normal married life again
She Went into coma five times since 16th December
She was unconscious
Critical and hasn't been able to stop crying
But don’t worry
She wasn't your sister
She wasn't your daughter
But she could be. The brutality has to stop right here guys
These people deserve capital punishment for their cruel,
Perverted act
She died yesterday saturday 29th

Rest in Peace♥ and I pray that her killers get the WORST punishment possible
This doesn't only happen in India..
But in every country around the world..
Is this how we treat our women?
It Makes me ashamed to even live on this planet today**
Re: Rape capital of India
I had a strong feeling that the girl was going to die. The media had mentioned some days ago that the infection had spread to her other organs even after 90% of her intestines were removed, and it is very hard to recover from that.
My feeling was confirmed when she was shifted to Singapore, the only reason the govt. did this was because they wanted her to die in another country and avoid more riots if she had died in Delhi.
Now the Indian govt. will delay as much as possible to bring her body back to india.
Mere bhai, the body of mazloom girl is back. No use of blaming the government. Government cant do anything unless we are ready to come all out against injustice done against any Human being in this country.
I was surprised by the anger shown by our society against the crime. Surprised because I saw very little ppls on the streets when countless poor girls were raped in Gujrat about 10 years back. Surprised because I m unable to understand why the rapes that happened that time couldnt attract such angry crowds. Why? Dont U feel that had we showed this standard of our anger against rape, at that unfortunate time, than this one and other inhuman incident which happens in our society on daily basis could be stopped?
Government can do nothing unless we can persuade ourselves about leaving our hypocrisy behind and have guts to call ourselves human that we are. Not hindus muslims sikhs christians and blah blah blah.
Re: Rape capital of India
Ji janab I know for sure that U are not that insensitive. But I was really unable to understand the cause of ur sweet-looking grin, at this inappropriate time and place. May I know why? May ALLAH show U the right path, AMEEN.
Re: Rape capital of India
Yeah right diwana saheb, U can pose questions, U can use foul language against anyone, but anyone who tries to answer U or show U the mirror is making a fool of him/herself. U are entitled to ur views, others are not. Reminds me what Iqbal said about ppls like ME.

Re: Rape capital of India
So sad that the girl has to die. Hopefully her death would not go in vain. Stronger laws for the protection should be passed after due consideration. It should not let women take advantage like the dowry laws.
