It's religious grounds. There's no religious evidence a foetus has a soul before 40 days after conception, so there's nothing at all wrong with aborting before then, it's like breaking a flower off a plant.
There's a minority view in Islam that after after 40 days, a foetus has a sould, so there's a chance that after 40 days an abortion could be murder.
The majority view is that after 120 days, the foetus definately has a soul. An abortion after that, unless needed to save the life of the mother, is clear bloody murder most foul.
