Re: Rani haars…

My goodness these last two are beautiful :hayaa:
I"d love to c them on a bride, even as a model shot ..just to c how it all looks togehter…

Re: Rani haars…

I’m the same way – initially my mother made one for me for my wedding and then decided to make me a different one when I pointed out how much I didn’t like them and that I would not wear it unless forced. She kept it for herself

I LOVE satlaras tho. My friend wore her nani’s on her shadi and I fell in love. Really beautiful.

Re: Rani haars...

i never knew these beaded necklaces could look so beautiful ......

Re: Rani haars...

I am and have always been a die-hard pearl fan....so the panch/sat laras are always popular with me. But Mehnaz is right....they must be worn on their own...not in conjunction with any other necklaces, except maybe a matching choker and they either look great on the person or horrible.

My mother insisted on getting me the hyderabadi sat lara in green and I made her sell it later because I couldn't imagine ever wearing it for my wedding or for any other occasion. Then I opted to get a two string one rather than the typical three....just because it has larger pendants than the normal ones and I didn't want it to look busy.

Hubby got me a chandan haar....it's gorgeous.....especially when worn with a sari.
MIL wanted to get me a gul sair but I declined....just couldn't imagine when I would wear it.

Re: Rani haars…

Rani haars look lovely with saris… :hayaa:

Re: Rani haars…

Is wearing something like this too much yellow gold for a wedding?

are ong rani haar sets still in style?

Re: Rani haars…

I dont know, depends on the dress really.. :halo:

Re: Rani haars...

what kind of dresses would something like this go with? these days a lot of brides don't wear the longer ones so i wasn't sure if they are still in...

Re: Rani haars...

One where the shirt is plaiN? It would suit something traditional (lots of yellow gold-colored kaam) more than something trendy and "new"(like silver/multicolor/antique gold kaam)..Maybe with a churidaar/pishwaz jora or sharara...But also, usually these type of necklaces suit older ladies more than our generation who wear strictly gold...nowadays we're more into matching our outfits, I see less and less girls my age wearing any gold anyomre...

Re: Rani haars...

thats so heavy! definitely with a plain kameez. where would you wear something like this again after your wedding?

Re: Rani haars...

This one bride I saw was wearing soemthing similar but her entire lehnga suit was plain, a bright orangy red velvet with little work at the bottom of the lehnga and some on the dupatta too. It didn't even look bad.

Re: Rani haars…

This Rani Har is just to die for ..and the bride looks so beautiful..the yellow bridal /walima outfit is pretty rare

Re: Rani haars...

thanks guys. my views are the same, after the actual wedding day its very hard to pull off such a big set, just wanted to see if they were in or not..only looks good sometimes like the pic above ^ which has a lot less yellow gold to it and more beads

Re: Rani haars...

I can't stand those huge pure gold rani haars, it just looks wrong to me like dressing up a cow with gold. On the other hand the moti satt lara or panch larra is to die for. I have panch larra that I bought from Pak....went to so many jewellry stores in saddar and they said it is out of fashion and they don't carry it anymore, usually they take orders for customize. It was something that was hot during 70's. Fortunately I found 2 sets in one of the stores....a satt larra which was soooo gorgeous but little too big for my neck (exactly like picture above) and panch larra which I ended up buying. But as Muzna said, they cannot be combined with any other hars or sets, it will ruin it, probably a choker will go with it.

Re: Rani haars…

If you do get that, is it possible to get it changed into something else afterwards? That’s what my mom did with a few of her sets, to make my set… :halo:
