Oh bhai koi tau sawaal poocho. Itni sharmindgi horahee hay mujhay yay khol ker.

OK, I have a question;

Do you let your co-workers, non-muslim friends know that you are fasting or would you rather not tell them?

I try not to tell them anything unless they try to force something down my throat. In the last few years, Ramzan was during the holiday season in USA and there were plenty of goodies sitting around corners to munch on.

hahahahahahha........3 ghantey baad kon sawal poochey gaa, woh bhi life forum mein.

Well, My co-workers know when I fast. Last year, I had told them all that do not disturb me or ask me to do anything at 5:15 or so because I'll be breaking my fast. They were very helpful and respective towards it. Each time they had something to eat, either they didn't eat it while I was there or if they by mistake ate it infront of me or asked me to eat, they apologized. They asked me different questions such as why do you do this (fasting), when, how long, and bla bla bla. They were excited to know that it teaches you decipline and you can lose some weight. They told me last year that they may practice it with me this year, but I don't know if they are going to do that or not.

I usually tell people in my department when Ramadan rolls around. I get to leave work early too, so I can get home in time for iftaari. :o I work through lunch, so everyone's very considerate when it comes to eating/drinking in our dept.

One of my co-workers wants to fast with me for the first three days. He will do everything except praying namaz or reading Quran. Isn't that how many muslims fast too? :D

But, that's good bc he is a church going catholic. Who knows I might revert someone back to Islam. That would be the highlight of my life. Really.

Yeah, what more can one want. I don't take off from work or go home early but I take my iftaari ka samaan with me at work and eat it when it's time. During the fall semester, I work on Tuesdays and Thursdays only (til after the iftaari time) and during the spring semester, I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. So eating only 2 days at work isn't a big deal.

shikra, do u carry a tiffin like in those indian movies?. The three story tiffin? :D

hahahahaha…NO!!! :grumpy:

I carry some dates and usually a home made burger. When I come home after about 45 minutes, then I eat the fruit chaat, pakorey, samosey, or whatever mom has cooked for iftaari.

Ok, I’ve a question. How do you deal with people who’ve had their iftaari already (because they’re in a different timezone), and they send you pictures of what they had?

:rotfl:

You simply don’t look at the pictures. If it’s on gupshup, I am sure the title explains or the thread being in the image gallary. If it’s via email, then you don’t check your email until after the iftaari :halo:

I usually let people know if they offer me food. I don't want to make them feel bad or anything for offering it to me.

But my students usually ask me all about it.

haha! tell them their roza becomes ‘makroo’ for torturing you

one question that has bothered me for a long time...whats with not wearing any makeup for women and no cologne, perfume at all for men while fasting!? is it forbidden or just another of those man made rules? and whats the logic? and what of the ppl who dont brush teeth!? last year amir liaquts program on Geo decalred it WAS OK to brush teeth during roza!

please guys, brush ur Goddamn teeth. It's wrong to torture other people especially during Ramadan

phir kabhi sahi :D
