Ramzan-ul-mubarak FAQs

I usually tell them Im fasting.Esp my proffs. They're always so considerate, well sometimes they treat me like Im ill or something, not that I really mind.A few times one of my proffs suggested that I go get some rest , because I didnt look too well. And a lot of the times he would extend my assignment deadlines.

At what time one should workout during ramazan ?

Codey, thats a great question. I prefer working out right before iftaar. Start 90 minutes before and workout for 30 to 40 minutes.

How can you guys have enough energy to exercise during Ramadan even after Iftar? I usually go on my lunch hour, cause in normal hours, I'm too tired after work. I certainly won't be exercising much during Ramadan.

working out in Ramadan? You've gotta be kidding me. What do you have? Protein shakes with your pakoray in iftari?

I barely have enough energy to walk. :(

I make a pantomime of it.

can we check out girls while fasting?

Yes but don't think of anything dirty.

Working out during Ramzan!

I used to use the fact that I was fasting as an excuse to get out of gym class. :bummer:

sotay huay, khwab-o-khayalon mein :D

i never do

Haris :d:D:D

i remember aftari k waqt ye program aata tha last Ramzan ko, aalim online with Dr Aamer Liaqat :smack:

half the ladies used to be calling in and asking “kia hum rozay k doraan lipstick laga saktay haen” :smack:

i was thinking…aik zamana tha jab logon ne kaha tha plane pe bethna haram hae…aur ab log plane pe beth k Hajj kartae haen..pehle sawal hota tha k ortein ghar se nikal sakti haen? aur aaj kal ye sawal hae k ortein nokri kerti hon toh kia rozay k doraan lipstick laga sakti haen…wonder whats gona happen in the future  how times change…

p.s. i think brushing teeth is ok, preferrable is miswaak, but i think brushing with toothpaste is ok if u rinse out the toothpaste really well n make sure u dont swallow it…

p.p.s. cologne / perfume is debatable coz of alcohol content…if its non alcoholic then why not…in fact itar is sunnat…
lekin have u noticed that a good smell kind of is pleasing to the olfactory senses…and so it can technically be considered a “pleasure” and so maybe aganist the concept of roza?
waise bhee Islam mein u r not sposed to put too much perfoom coz it invites unwanted attention n is against the concept of modesty..bas itni honi chahiyay k aap k saath jo khara hay us ko aap se halki see achee smell aa jayay i guess…but jus halki si, very halki si is ok i think

^ Wah professor Irem :k:. You can take the place of Dr Aamir Liaqat this Ramazan. I bet All the fone calls will be from males

As for working out in Ramazan.. hmmm

Dr. Funguy has suggested a nice time for workout. It also help to charge up your matabolism, and you feel lesser desire to eat more at the time of iftar. But it is practically difficult to exercise at that time specially for ladies as they have to prepare Iftari.

Another time for light exercise and brisk walk is right after Namaz-e-fajar. If you have a park or jogging track nearby.

Warning!!

One should not do heavy exercise in Ramazan, even after Iftar. Special cuation if Roza is long like 16-18 hours.

For last 10 years Ramazan falls in winter in pakistan. Next 20 years it will be in summer. Summer is extreme in Pakistan as you all know. So it is not advisable to workout in summer with roza. In winter it is ok.

naheen Dr Amer Liaqat kee replacement toh pooray Pakistan mein nai pai ja sakti

waise i was jus giving my opinion :hoonh:

OKAY!!! I have two questions.

  1. WHY do people tend to "sympathize" with themselves when they are fasting? Why do they try to avoid physical activity like it would be too harsh on them. Where do all those calories from fried oily pakoras, samosas, jalebis and other junk food on Iftar and parathas and what not from Sehri go? Why do they behave like "delicate" idiots?

  2. Is it necessary to break your fast by eating / drinking (dates/milk, whatever)? Or can it be done by anything else?

okay here’s something…
i want to stop spending so much damn money this ramadan, and i want to try being good wtih my namazes, not just durnig this time, but on a long-term basis. Oh and biggest of all, i want to develop “inner hijab.” i’ve had some trouble with it these last three months or so of wearing it and one of the reasons was that i felt i was only wearing a scarf on my head. while i realize ive made much progress over the last year, i still haven’t learned to control myself liek a real hijabi. So..that’s what i hope to accomplish this ramadan.

I don’t hesitate to do anything that I would do on regular bases. Now I ofcourse wouldn’t run 5 miles while fasting but lifting weight, working out, etc. shouldn’t be a problem. When I used to play for our school’s soccer team, we used to have matches in the evening, right before the iftaar, and I would take a 2 minutes break to drink water and break my fast, and then continue the game.

It’s not necessary but it’s preferred that you break your fast with Dates, Milk, Salt, or Water. Now ofcourse you don’t wanna break your fast by lighting a cigarette, but any halal thing would do.

Sara You just have to practice your prayers and make it a habit. All the best :k:

Ramadan will either make or break you, just keep that in mind

 “delicate idiots” …

Not everybody is built the same. If you can work out, good for you. No need to look down on others who don’t feel they can keep it up.
