Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

You missed the point again, he is NOT doubting Yousuf's ability to play well, he is just commenting on his observation and it's his job.
Let's forget about first 45 overs as that's not where we are going wrong, look at this and decide whether Ramiz is right or wrong:

44.1Pathan to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, short of length, just outside off stump, cut past point 44.2Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf, 1 run, from round the stumps, slower one, on the off and middle stump, pushed to cover point 44.3Pathan to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, fullish, outside off stump, driven to extra cover 44.4Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf, 1 run, on the middle stump line, Yousuf steers through backward point 44.5Pathan to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, on the off stump line, fullish, square driven to cover 44.6Pathan to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, full in length, driven to long-off for a single

A full length delivery from round the stumps and Yousuf tried to scoop it inside-out over extra cover but Ganguly leaped up to intercept but couldn't hold on. 46.2Singh to Mohammad Yousuf, 1 run, dabs to third man to get off the strike 46.3Singh to Misbah-ul-Haq, SIX, six over the bowler's head. It was a length delivery, from round the stumps and Misbah went down on his back knee and hit cleanly right over the bowler's head. Super strike. 46.4Singh to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, goes for the yorker this time, on the off stump line and its jabbed away to the off side 46.5Singh to Mohammad Yousuf, 1 run, low full toss, on the middle and leg, Yousuf mistimes a paddle-sweep to Zaheer Khan at short fine-leg 46.6Singh to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, fullish, on the off stump line, Misbah retains the strike with a drive to long-on

47.1Pathan to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, done in by the slower one. It was delivered from round the stumps, around 116 kmph, landed on a length, just outside off stump and came in. Misbah was made to wait and he tried to chop it away but failed to get any wood on leather. Misbah-ul-Haq b Pathan 40 (39b 2x4 1x6) SR: 102.56 **47.2Pathan to Sohail Tanvir, 1 run, another slower one, full and just outside off stump, turned to midwicket for a single 47.3Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf, no run, yet another slower one - three in a row - and Yousuf is beaten by the change of pace and ends up just dabbing it to the on side 47.4Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf, 2 runs, swings in from outside off, from round the stumps, Yousuf leans across and sweeps it to right of deep square leg 47.5Pathan to Mohammad Yousuf, **FOUR, another slower one but this time Yousuf was ready. , Yousuf moves to 97 with a lovely clean hit to the straight boundary. It was a length delivery and Yousuf killed it without violence. Can he get to his ton? 49.6Singh to Mohammad Yousuf, 2 runs, He will end up on 99. It was a fullish delivery, around off stump and driven to wide long-on.

Now tell me if we are really gonna win against any big teams with this sort of batting in last 5 overs.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

called CRITICS!

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Isn't that related to the 1st ODI performance of Yousuf?????
I think It's highly unfair to post a comment, which stands in no relation to the last performance of Yousuf.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I just find it unbelievable that a guy who scored nearly 40% of the team's runs at a strike rate of 95 is accused of being selfish is being asked to do more. For God's sake people, there were 6 other batsmen in the team besides him. What did they do? It was Pakistan against India, not Mohammad Yousuf vs. India.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I have been noticing Rameez since the first ODI itself, he has been anti-yosuf since then. I guess Rameez personally hates yousuf mullah dhari, he needs to take it off...........honestly, I don't like it either.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I'm personally on Ramiz's side this time around... Yousuf can play however he wants - consolidate... build... defend.... whatever... but if at 45 overs with 5 wickets in hand, you're still in that same mode, then there's something wrong!

Either him or Misbah should have taken more risks... the game plan should have been to allow one recognized batsmen to stay and let the other take risks and be aggressive.

Pakistan had enough firepower among Akmal, Tanvir and Akhtar to score at least another 25 to 30 runs. Not that it would have mattered all that much... but you never know.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

"the game plan should have been"...didnt misbah hit a six then get out? cant you say that yousuf was the recognized batsmen who was to stay while misbah was the one to take risks...i mean he hit a six then got out, yousuf kept rotating the strike didnt he? other guys could have hit...

Re: Rameez’s comments on Yousuf

Ramiz is after Yousuf (in particular) from the first game of the series and afer every Pakistani player in general. A guy who made **99 runs with strike rate of more than 95 ** , and you are still criticizing him? and that to in presence of fact that we don’t have any other reliable batsman?

Ager Yousuf 50 per out ho jata (6 martey howey) aur phir Pakistan kee pore team 40 overs main out ho jatee tu Ramiz would have been criticizing yousuf “He is a senior player he should play with responsibility blan blan”

Why Ramiz and other idiots think that a sixer in an over is better than 4 doubles? :konfused:

Whenever Pakistan team is visiting India (and they are on Indian Media) both Ramiz and Wasim start licking Indian boots for obvious reasons and go over board in criticizing Pakistani players.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Just what do you think afriDi can Do? Once in a blue moon he hits a feW crazy shots that's it. People. Like you get excited by that anD for the next year a spot is wasted on him.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

And Another thing.

Why is everyone talking abt batting as if that. Was thE problEm? 255 by no means is a shabby target.

Instead look. At what the bowlers. Didnot achive. Afridi kept getting hit at will by Indians. Shoab and others got some respect but there wasn't an attack mentality. Bwing was supposed to be Paki streNgth!

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Welcome to 2007!

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Its so annoying trying to explain it to people who are defending Yousef here... His performance with a 95 strike rate is GOOD on paper! If someone looks at the scorecard... its an excellent performance! But the way the last few overs were played was PATHETIC! That is EXACTLY the point!

Dont look at the score and the balls faced and say ah yeah,, good performance... see the way they batted in the last overs and you can tell that the nudges for singles and dot balls was just a horribly selfish display of batting... I mean fine, if someone tries, and doesnt succeed in getting boundaries, thats a different story, but god,, they didnt even try! There was no urgency. Fine, when someone opens that scorecard 6 yrs from now and looks at it,, yousaf played a good innings,, if he sees the recording of the last 10 overs,,,, he'll know it could have been a lot better.

The aim is to give your BEST to get the total as big as possible. The aim isnt to play a good individual innings and score 99 off 104 balls and come out and say, hay i did my part, look! the strike rate is 95.. what else do u want me to do. Why did the players build the innings and saved the wickets to the end?? why is it considered such an advantage? to have wickets at the death?? to freakin hit out! which they didnt!

Now dont give me one more stupid justification! it was pathetic batting by both Misbah and Yousef. They did a great job building the innings, and lost that advantage by not capitalizing on the wickets in hand.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I agree Kakay. That strike rate of 95 was immensely helped by the SIX Yousaf hit in the last over... without it, the strike rate would've been 89. So if ONE six can help this much, imagine what a couple more sixes and 3-4 fours would've done both to the strike rate and Pakistan's total. There was no attempt made to accelerate, either by Yousaf or by Misbah.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

i agree...in the last 5 overs he played like a pregnant lady. no real fire power or aggression. was still interested in singles and at times twos. i mean comeon, with 5 wkts in hands and indians throwing full tosses at him n misbah, it was the time to have some fireworks of their own. rameez is absolutely spot on about MY. if it were some other batsmen in the mid 90s facing the last 5 overs and wkts in hand, he would have ended up with 120+ runs, a SR of well over 100 and 40-50 more runs for the team. he just was not up to the task and played a very monotonous innings from start till end as if 250 was a target they've been looking for since the start.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

If he was playing for stats wouldn't he have atleast completed his century?

Re: Rameez’s comments on Yousuf

only maulana knows wht exactly he was playing for. :halo:

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

That is how Yousuf always play. He is a batsman who builds partnership and hold things together. It is up to other players like Malik, Afridi, Butt, and Akmal to keep the RR going.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

Do you really think Akmal, Sohail and Akhtar are "firepower" batsmen? What can Yousuf do when he knows he has a bunch of shmucks in the lower order (remember 6 wickets for 20 runs?)? Either you give him a team where Malik, Razzaq and Afridi are present together in the late order to score 100 off the last ten overs, or just shut up and stop moaning about his innings (which, by the way, was classy as per usual).

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I think Ramiz has been unfair, thats how Yousuf plays and he cannot play any faster than this. I mean some batsmen CAN slog others cannot. Yousuf does not have this ability. Havent seen him doing that.

I also agree with the others that Pakistan innings was pathetically slow. The main person to blame is Malik himself who exemplified this by playing painfully slow in first 15 overs. The score at end of 15 overs was 50!. Thats where we lost it.

Re: Rameez's comments on Yousuf

I respect Yousaf too much to declare he was just playing for stats, but for the record, when on 91, he did hit a six on the penultimate ball, and was looking for 3 on the last ball.
