“If you looked at [Mohammad] Yousuf’s innings, you could straightaway make out that he was more keen to play for himself [than the team].”
Do you guys agree? personally I think he is being highly unfair didn’t Yousuf have a strike rate of over 80? plus it wasn’t as if Pakistan ended up 255 for one?
Rameez is an idiot! Yousuf times his innings perfectly. Yes, in the beginning, his strike rate is in the 50's or 60's, but then by the end of the day, he ends up with a strike rate in the 80's or 90's. What does he want him to do? Constantly maintain a rate of 100+?
disappointing loss today; but with that batting line up, 255 was always going to be chasable.
I thought that umpire made a bad call on afridi; any other umpire gives him benefit of doubt but simba starightaway put up his finger. it was a horrible decision!!
but in all honesty, we're basically a middle tier team. our lineup can be considered 'good' at best. with the exit of inzi and razzaq we've lost the 'umph' of our lineup.
Rameez has annoyed me with his anti-pakistani team rhetoric in this series. Like no one in our team could do anythign right the whole series. I remember he was criticizing younis khan and misbah in mohali. Yousuf played really well today. He held our innings together. Yes 15-20 runs would have been helpful but it was an unfair comment.
He is a good commentator but should be a bit objective and a tad bit bias wont hurt (not like arun's but just a little bit)
Rameez is smart but I find that he's sucking up to the other side too much. It's the greed. Most of the times he's talking out of his @..! The jokes he makes are not even funny, like about Rama's math..
Yes, I was wondering about this too. Rameez seemed to be going a little overboard with his criticism of Yousuf today. I mean the guy scored 99 with a healthy strike rate of 85+ (if I am not mistaken). But during the end overs, Rameez was saying something like "Yousuf is not playing with a great deal of intensity and it is affecting his partner too"...
i still maintain that was HORRIBLE umpiring; he knew wut afridi could do to his team and he took advantage of a marginal opportunity to give him out.
pathetic; the lanaat on his face was evident.
maybe so maybe so. umpiring is a tough job in cricket. especially in india vs pak games. It gets even more trickier on lbw's. See i think most lbw's should be adjudged by the 3rd umpire. The only problem is with teams doing excessive appealing.
They should have had umpires from neutral countries to avoid the mess. However, it happens to everyone. I have seen Aleem Dar at times with India giving decisions that were wrong. Its ultimately what he thinks that matters. which is why something needs to be done to solve the lbw issue.
India for this game looked way more professional than Pakistan regardless of the lbw. In the end it comes down to that and some luck.
Is it just me that actually understands what Rameez was saying???
To all of you who are talking about consolidating and saving wickets... What was he saving the wickets for???? Wickets are saved to actually go nuts and hit out and get as many runs as you can by taking risks at the end! That wasnt done by pakistan at all... The last overs were soo damn annoying to watch, because these clowns are busy blocking or pushing the ball for singles. We could have easily had 30 35 runs more.
Its surprising how none of you are actually criticising Yousafs batting.. yes overall, it looks alright on the paper... but under the circumstances... the way they played in the last few overs wasnt exactly great. I'm surprised at misbah as well... yes he does come up with a great shot here n there in between,,, but he was very very defensive as well... along with yousaf. We should have been more aggressive... Should have thrown the bat around a bit more.
Having said all that.... Rameez is an annoying ass at times... I hated the way he called that Afridi decision 'Great'... sucking up to the indians... Also, not much was said about the Tendulkar runout that wasnt given, and not even referred to the thrid umpire... should have seen some strong criticism, because that alone probably cost us the match.

.
spot on...by end of 45 overs, we had lost only 5 wickets.....
I don't like Rameez as a commentator, but what he says does have merit. I only watched Pakistan's innings from overs 42-50, and it was an extremely painful experience. Never before have I seen top order batsmen taking singles in the death overs, with no effort to hit out. Yousaf's strike ratio appears decent only because he finally managed to hit a 6 in the last over.
Pakistan routinely used to score at 10/over in the last 10 overs. There was no attempt made to even come close to that. Nudging the ball for singles and rotating the strike is done between 20th and 30th overs, not 40th and 50th overs.
Oh, and Rameez should be the one to talk... he scored an extremely slow unbeaten century that led to Pak's defeat by 10 wicket against WI in the opening game of 1992 World Cup.

His strike rate in the end is 95, did he not make up for "blocking" balls? What other "hitters" do we have? the unreliable Afridi? or out of uniform Akmal? If he had gotten out playing "stupid" shot everyone would've been complaining "he is such a senior player, he should've known, shoulda played responsibly". If anyone needs to be blamed it is Malik and Younis (check out their strike rates) who couldn't make up for their slower SRs.
I agree with Rameez, i said this before as well and people thought i am crazy. No one is questioning his ability, it's just that he can do better for th team what he is doing now. I don't care if he scores a 50 of even 70 balls but you simply cannot depend on singles and doubles in the last few overs. Misbah made the same mistake but it's clear that Yousuf wants to stay not out to improve his average.
I dont understand one thing, if some one "never" played a match winning inning, or even a real good century that was helpful for Pakistan to win in both forms of cricket then how he gets right to blame some one who was player of the year who broke the record of great Richard, who is a top class player who is 3rd highest runs scorrer in Test for Pakistan with best aveage and also 3rd highest in One Day Int. so who is Rameez now to say all this ??
Learn to appreciate !
