A fire has caused major damage at an Islamic school in the Netherlands amid fresh violence in the wake of the murder film maker Theo van Gogh.
Firefighters were battling the blaze at a primary school in the southern town of Uden, where graffiti scrawled on the walls had referred to the killing.
There has been heightened tension since Van Gogh was shot and stabbed last week, allegedly by an Islamic militant.
A funeral was held for Van Gogh in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
Praetextatus, Thanks for the link, I don't know what all the other people are saying in Dutch (do you?) but the few pieces of English in between by the presumably Muslim woman I did get to hear. And after watching the clip I stand by my convictions.
The question is, what is your position on the killing or the bomb blasts?

Fair enough, after all you have the freedom to choose :D
A 3 ladies (working at high positions in the goverment) are giving their opinions.
The first one says: He is trying to provoke
number 2 : He has made a good movie and makes one think
number 3 : He is provoking yet again.
and after that THeo van Gogh gives his opinion. (which doesnt matter now)
I agree with you, violence is not the anwser, and I dont support killing.
But I think one should take a look at the government aswell.
Several months ago an Imam was sued because he said:
ALL GAY PEOPLE HAVE A MENTAL DEFECT.
Now that was his opinion yes? But the 'leiders' here wanted him to apologise openly and he did.
Why coudlnt they give THeo a warning as well?
She doesnt make sense, and when she cant prove her point its always:
LEAVE IT YOU LL NEVER UNDERSTAND.
comon Mehnaz, dont colour your hair to often :)

Blond I mean :)
I hope you will understand what I mean

Come on Preax, that was uncalled for! Yeh phir wohi baat hui naa, she (and anyone else for that matter) is entitled to have an opinion. You don't have to agree with but don't get personal about it.
I think Theo was a jackass, a jaahil and an idiot .. but did he deserve to be killed? NO! I don't think violence has ever been an answer to anything. I refuse to believe that god wanted us to kill anyone who had a different opinion than your own
And Preax, I think the reason nothing was done against Theo (except for sacking him by all his employees) was because nobody actually sued him or stood up against him. The whole imam and gay episode was there because those who were offended by it DID something about it (abiding the legal rules in the country).
What i find shocking about holland is that you can sue for stating an opinion. A violation of freedom of speech.
Btw i am surprised none of the "I love western society" have jumped on the band wagon to condemn the bomb blast at a muslim school. The burning down of a mosque and the 5 attempts of arson in various cities around Holland.

^Yes, that's the effect of a single act. Sadly that's how human nature works > cause and effect.
Maybe that's what Theo van Gogh wanted in the first place, maybe he's happy now! He died but so many people are now standing up against the muslim community (which he thinks was growing rapidly and hence dangerous in a tiny country like Holland)

As the comment is in third person format, I guess I am included in it but wait ... am I?

The murder of the director & the bombing are both unfortunate & uncalled for. Sad but true that it is very easy to act like an ass.

that is correct but it should be based on something. One shouldnt blur things out in the open without giving it some thought
As you can see, I didnt tell her to SHUT UP, but to THINK before she speaks. Maybe in a somewhat rude manner for which I still dont feel the urge to apologize for :)
If the blame is on the government, it still doesn't warrant the killing and maybe it would have been good if the Morrocan had come forward to sue Van Gogh?
Making a movie/documentary is easy, all you need is some editing talent. Though, in this particular case if a good number of people had contacted the public broadcasting network they could have done some interviews on women issue in Islam with some Imams and get a different perspective out there.
In any case making such a movie must be easier than taking someone's life.

What did I say that you found so offensive? I was talking to MQ in that post and only MQ and the way she came across in her initial post towards AJ. She already apologised about the misunderstanding, so what exactly is your problem?
Yeah, you didn't tell me to shut up but you were bloody rude about it.
