Ramadan Resolutions (merged)

I had a roommate once who was Catholic. She practiced Lent, which was like the only religious act she ever did, aside from Mass on Christmas. But anyway. In Lent, you have to give up something you crave (or so that’s how I thought it goes).

Muslims do something similar, although its not formalized nor is it obligatory. But its a month of self-constraint and self-checks. And we try that these constraints carry on once the holy month is over.

I see the month as an opportunity to improve yourself and the way you do things. So, how people have resolutions at the New Year…I try to set some resolutions in Ramadan to last until the next Ramadan.

What are your Ramadan Resolutions? (they don’t have to be religious in nature necessarily, like “I want to be more steadfast in prayer”).

My resolutions:

patience
healthier eating and eating less (not gorging)
becoming more steadfast in prayer :nahnah:

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

I’m pretty good with namazeiN except for fajar ( :bummer: ) but getting up for sehri should solve that problem.

My resolutions:
-Read Quran more frequently
-Read extra nawafil when ever i get the chance
-Be nice, and perhaps help mend things b/w two estranged friends
-Eat healthy
-Spend less time on GS

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

Any less, and we won’t see you till next Ramzan.

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

That’s exactly right.

Hence, my resolution is just

  • to improve myself Islamically and follow the way as close to the Sunnah of the Prophet:saw: for the rest of life.

Aameen

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

I think all guppies should also insult others less on gupshup. That should definitely be a resolution for all. Focus more on being nice and tolerant towards others. Whether others are muslims, christians, hindus or any other group. Focus on being nice and leave for Allah to decide who is right and who is wrong.

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

haha, Faisal bhai I'm always here ;) in the shadows.

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

This is an interesting thread... More so because of something nearly miraculous that happend to me this past week (I passed a big exam which I should have failed for all intents and purposes). So while I normally find such threads irrelevent, I think I owe to god to perform the entire fast with sincerity and discipline... Hell, I feel guilty of being religous only when I need a miracle...

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

Life would be so boring if everybody was what Diva4u wants them to be. Imagine what would life be if we didnt judge each other and left it to Allah, we would be so reserved and no halla gulla. :p

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

My ramzaan resolution is to share joys of eating with my fellow muslims. I'll share details of all my brekkies and lunches. Insha allah.

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

Hmmmm. I want to try to be sincere to myself while fasting and make it more than just starvation.
Hopefully try and say all 5 namaz's.
Insha Allah will try to finish the entire Quran this ramzan as I haven't done so for the past two yrs.
Try to get up early more often to prepare sehri and let mum rest.
Try to keep my niyyat in control so I don't end up making additional outfits for eid since I already have two.
Not to wear my eid clothes before eid so I don;t have to get new ones :D
Cut down on the internet.

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

Control my anger further. Or rather, make it even less conspicuous. (sp)
Stick to my revision time table.

o and loosing weight would be good :p

Re: Ramadan Resolutions

True Hiccup. Gotta control the food intake :bummer:
