I didnt even know Ramadan was starting today. I slept as usual. Cz I had a chutti today thought would get a nice hearty breakfast in the morning ![]()
Woke up at 0430 hours with a SMS sound on my mobile. It was from my sister wishing Ramadan mubarak. I said to myself, “Yeh ----- ko bhi kis time par wish karna yaad aya hai.” And went back to sleep. After 15 mins, woke up again. Thought to myself, why the hell is she sending at this time. I hope it is not tomorrow. I called back immediately. I said, “Disturb tau nahi kiya?” She said, “Nahi mein tau sehri bana rahi thi.” I was like, “WHAT!!!
Kya kal roza hai?” She was like, “Tau aur?” I said, “Azaan kab honi hai?” She was like… “Oh abhi tau bohot time hai.” I took a relief sigh and went to brush and all. Came back by 0500 hrs. Took a sip of water from the glass next to my bed. Was thinking what to eat as sehri and… there went the azaan. Oh no, I think it was the prayer. I mean Azaan was over. They were getting ready to pray.
Now my lips look/feel like sookha paapaaRs ![]()

Re: Ramadan Recipes
I like the kala chana ki chat.
Boil the chanas until tender.
Slice and sautee some onions slightly. Add crushed tomatoes, grated ginger, salt, pepper, zeera(cumin), a pinch of turmeric and dhanya powder. Cook until masala like. Add to the chanas and toss to coat. Serve garnished with lotsa fresh dhanya.
My mom also makes cutlets out of potato and keema.
Cook keema like you owuld for samosa filling. Keep aside.
Boil and mash potatoes. Add salt, pepper, zeera etc to taste. Now take a handful of potatoes. Add a tbsp of keema in the middle. Shape like a patty. Dip in a beaten egg, cover with bread crumbs and fry. These are real yummy with imli and aloo bukhara ki chutney
Re: Ramadan Recipes
yummm..Ira those cutlets sond yummmmyyy
Re: Ramadan Recipes
here are some smoothies as Sajal baji had asked for in some other thread!
Sajal Baji here are some smoothies that I have tried during this Ramadan!
Fruit smoothie:
1 1/2 cup orange juice
1 frozen banana, sliced
1 cup bluebarries
1 cup raspberries
1 cup blackberries
Put the orange juice into a food processor.. add banana and half cup of each of the berries and process until smooth.. Add the remaining ones and process until smooth.. Pour and drink!
Coconut smoothie:
1 1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup coconut milk
vanilla ice cream
frozen pineapple chunks
Pour the coconut milk and orange juice into the food processor..add the icecream and process until smooth... Add the pineapple chunks and process again until smooth.. for decoration purposes I had added the grated coconut but it wasn't liked very much.. smoothie was good though :-D
Starwberry and orange smoothie:
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup strawberry yogurt
3/4 cup orange juice
1 cup strawberries
I banana, sliced and forzen
Pour the plain and strawberry yogurt into a food processor and process...add the orange juuice and process until combined.. Add the strawberries and banana until smooth!
I haven't tried this one, but hopefully it turns out to be good!
1/3 cup coconut milk
3/4 cup soy milk
1/3 cup pineapple juice
1 tbsp brown sugar
I mango, diced
2 tbsp fresh coconut
pineapple chunks
1 banana, sliced and forzen
Put the coconut milk, soy milk, pineapple juice and sugar in the food processor and process until combined.. Add the diced mango along with the grated coconut and process until smooth.. Add the pineapple chunks and banana and process well until smooth!
Re: Ramadan Recipes
I have this easy recipe for those who like bread and spices. (my invention)
First of all boil some potatos, peel the skin and mash into a bowl.
Then boil some chicken like you would make yahkni (soup).. with all the normal spices .. takeout the chicken without the bones and mix into the potatos along with one small fine chopped onion and some peas .. mix with your favorite spices, salt, red/black pepper, green dhania, garam masala .. mix well and spread the mass with your hand on one side of any type of sandwich bread (you may cut of the edges of the bread to get an even look) then make two pieces of the bread, cut from one edge to another to get the triangle look ...
dip into egg and fry with some oil in a pan ...
its reallly good.
