To all the newly married girls/ladies…
How’s Ramadan after the wedding? esp for the ones who got married just a few days before Ramdan..? waking up early morning, preparing the Sehri, waking the hubby up etc etc..
May be some tips for the girls going to get married soon.

Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
It may be different for diff ppl depending on the situation
I come from a big family where everyone got up for sehri and ate together and talked and had a good time..yeah, sounds crazy but true.
Now..it's just me and hubby! Not a lot to make for two people...so it's pretty good.
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
when did you get married..?
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
We don't have time or sense for talking, as both of us are zombies at sehri time. I wake up first and put the kettle on and heat up food. Then he makes the coffee and takes the stuff to the table. Then we eat without talking much bcos we r still sleepyhead zombies.
After that we take the stuff back to the kitchen, pray fajr, read Quran and go back to sleep.
And thats the end of sehri.
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
He's usually up all night any way working so he'll wake me up at 4 and i go cook sehri (its been omeletes usually). we eat, and sit and chat for a bit while trying to go to sleep. For iftari time, if i have the day off i will cook a salan and some appetizers (enough salan to lsat hte nxt day when i have classes) and then we eat and he does the dishes.
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
I had my nikkah done recently and spent the first couple of days at inlaws house with the hubby. He was the one waking me up every morning and my mil did all the cooking for sehri since she likes to pamper us all. She would ask us all the night before what we wanted to eat and would wake up pretty early to prepare everything. I then did the dishes because she also has work in the mornings. During sehri, we all (as in hubby, mil, fil, brothers in law) would watch cnn, sit and joke around. The lil BIL is only 14 and really funny so he would always have us in splits and noone would even feel sleepy after :) After that we all got together to pray Fajr, read some Quran, see off my hubby to school and go back to sleep. Now that Im back home, I miss all the talking and fun we used to have during Sehri since my side of the family is quieter, lol.
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
I got married 2 months ago and me and my husband just started med school as well. In addition we bought a new place and moved out so Ramadan after marriage was a big change from the usual pampering I was used to before getting married. Now we wake up 15 mins before Fajr, eat something quick (usually food prepared from my in laws or mommy's house) then pray and go to sleep. We wake up an hour later and are off to school! Its rough when your doing it all on your own but I love my man so its all worth it!!

Oh wow...that's got to be hard...if my mom and dad found this out, they'd never want me to be a dr!
That's so great that you're continuing your education though. kudos!
At least you guys dont have to make the food though, so that's better

Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
My husband doesnt wake up for sehri, he just gets a glas of water and goes to sleep, I eat a bowl of cereal and then go back to sleep, dont feel like cooking parathas or anything for myself alone. :(
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
I remember the excitement of our first ramadan together, not that it doesnt remain exiciting after that :p Its just me and him so cooking for two isnt that big of a deal. We eat, talk a bit, then he has to go to the masjid for fajr while i stay home, load the dishwasher and pray on my own.
Oh and i wake him up after i have the paratha almost done. If i relied on him to wake me, we would both go hungry :D Its easier if you are living with your hubs only. With inlaws iam sure it would be a different story where you would be responsible for making parathas/roti etc and waking everyone else up too.
Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
I present to you, ramzan before marriage:
Set the alarm...
bring a glass of water to bed (hardest part)...
wakey wakey, drinkey drinkey...
go back to sleep!
Life is so much easier!

Re: Ramadan after Marriage...
I make roti for sehri with omelette or warm salan from the day before.hubby doesnt like paratha. so I wake him up just before roti is done. its special to make him sehri and iftar and he really enjoys to be spoiled:D
