Because pride is not considered a good trait of a Muslim? Also being proud has the connotation that u making others feel worse over something you or they had absolutely no control over. Personally I think its enough to be proud of being Pakistani and Muslim...but that's it.. Yeah a Muslim from Africa has different traditions than a Muslim frm Pakistan, but in the end what unites us all would be religion, and not culture. Culture is always changing but religion stays the same.

well if i was punjabi id def be proud of the foood mmmm seekh kebab
when someone converts to islam, he is encouraged to keep his last name. why? because the last name indicates his history, the history of his people.
islam does not say eradicate your tribal and cultural history. all islam says is don't feel proud in the fact that you're a pathan and therefore better than a rajput, or vice versa.
take an arab from one of the middle east country. ask him to recite his name. he will present to you a name that is atleast a page long. that name goes back to his great great great great X20 grandfather, who was probably not a Muslim. Yet, the Arab chooses to keep his long name.
when you take this whole i'm a this and i'm only going to marry this, or i'm this and i'm better than you then you mess everything up. know who you are, and part of knowing who you are is your nationality, your cultural background, as far as you can take it.
basically the moral of the story is that be proud of your own roots and heritage but don't look down on others or claim race superiority because although we may be diverse, we are all equals.
Very interesting, do Rajputs have tribes? Do you have tribal code or vendetta system?? I am very interested in the Rajputs, so any help or info would be appreciatted. Thanks

No bhaijaan, rajputs have zaat-biradri like janjua, bhatti, noon, chauhan, minhas etc. Rajputs are known for their dedication to Islam, Pakistan, their strong will and body. Rajputs keep their imaan and word. Rajputs respect their women and others too. They can sacrifice their lives for izzat of their land and women.. My dadajaan told me that Indians had hard-time fighting rajputs in 1965 :D

did rajputs fight in 1971? or were they all on sick leave then?

They did and they fought bravely but 1971 debacle was due to consipracy hatch jointly by Bharatis and Bengali gaddars that made our tons of brave men demoralized My blood boils when I think about 1971 :(
exactly...i agree with you...but it should not enter the circle of pride....
what happened to us in 1400 years..what was the real cause of shia sunni conflict..what is happening in iraq...who were Ummayad and banu hashimis...????
what is happening in afghanistan between tajiks...pakhtoons..and uzbeks..are they not all muslims ??????
these all the fruits iof idols of tribes and races..
Its your heritage, doesn't matter what and which it is, its your so-called roots and not something to compete about or say which caste is superior and which is not, thats all bulls**t
Ok if someone asks me what i am, if I would say Muslim, then he/she will say, from where, which country, and if ur from the same country, they will ask which area/proviance, if from the same district, they will ask which village/town, so if the same town then they will ask, which house, till they get to know your identity (eg. house, family, name) so its all about identity and not look i am this and that, we were kings and worriorers now respect me for what my heritage was.
Thats all. Nobody is worshipping someone here, but if u dont like this tribe concept than its ok. Not everyone likes belonging to some tribe/caste.
I had many rajput friends in pakistan. on of them told me they were from rajhistan thats way they had dark complexion.
You must be really proud.
Well its ok, the village was really proud as it gave them an identity, but now its almost forgatten, his momenunt is not visited as often, but because of him our village what the first one in that area to get roads and electricity. :D

very Well said................you have become wise after getting married.:D
our identity is muslims and Pakistanis...thats all...these tribal..racial...names..originally from Hindu muslim 1000 years inter-mixing do nothing...simple !!!!!
well tribal system was addressed in Koran with no priority over eachother. Hz. Mohammad (PBUH) was from Quraish Tribe. We are born in to tribes cause of identity. there is nothing wrong having a caste or tribe. its wrong however to beleiving better than others due to caste though. only better deeds make better person!
there is nothing wrong or to be ashmed off or to relate to ancestors wether they were of other faith. history is our history and it means more to some and less to some. nothing wrong about it.
I am a proud Muslim
I am a proud Pakistani
I am a proud Punjabi
back to topic - i am aslo a rajput.
these are all my identies. combined and separate! whats wrong with it?

Being proud and humble is different from being proud and arrogant. There is nothing wrong about beoing proud of your traits and achievments. Bano Quresh and Bano Hashim were famous and proud tribes of Arabia. As long as you respect others, there is nothing wrong about feeling good about yourself and your heritage.
