Looks like this was the cash that he received in India for his shows and converted using "hawala" i.e. unofficial (and illegal) money exchange. I agree - just levy a fine and let him go. He is not a criminal.

I dont think Pakistan allows Indian artists to perform in Pakistan.
Rahat A Khan should give a little respect to Revenue Dept and Customs Dept of India. Revenue Intelligence Dept detained him and his Indian manager when more than USD 100,000K cash was recovered from his bag. And now they have released him.

Revenue dept also raided Priyanka chopra and Katrina Kaif residence. And Revenue dept found Shahid Kapoor just in boxers opening the door during an early morning raid at Priyanka Chopras apt.

If you act like a criminal, dont expect to be treated like a star, irrespective of your nationality.

Guys - do not make it an India vs. Pakistan issue. The same would have happened in USA too. As a foreign national, he was not supposed to carry more than $ 5000 without declaring it to the customs authorities. From the news coming in, it seems like this is not the first time he has done this. Call it ignorance or whatever, but it is a violation of India's laws. Any other foreigner in his situation would probably have fared worse.

ignorance of the law is NOT an excuse. i wunder what he had mentioned on his immigration declaration card. i am positive that he knew FULL well that carrying large sum of money is illegal and especially in the time when everyone is on edge about terrorism.

i'm an indian by birth but i wud never carry cash [even $500] for the sake of my safety and security.**

I know you are joking but i am not surprized if a lot of people have that kind of feeling.

It is a sad incident but then again, whats the big deal. it is blown out of proportion. bade bade logo ke sath choti choti baate hoti rahti hai.

BTW gadhe ka baccha bag me rakh ke paise le ja raha tha. Delhi ke baggage handling wale chaddiya bhi chura lete hai, cash tou bhaut badi baat hai.
