the point is that in schools (upto 12th grade education), there should be no religious symbol allowed such as: cross, star of david, or Hijab, niqab etc.
the emphasis should be to prepare the kids to be part of the mainstream, and make them ready for assimilation in the general society.
Will the avoidance of religious symbols eliminate the taunting? probably not.
Will the removal of religious symbols drastically reduce the taunting. Absolutely!
