a guy in my class is really racist.
normally he says stuff about paki people
but today he just went overboard
he asked me what my dad’s next target was…the pentagon??
i felt so bad the whole day
what do i do???
i don’t wanna tell on him but i don’t know what to do

Then tell him the great Muhammad Ali was voted the sportman of the millennium not just by people in the United States but by almost every country in Europe. That should shut him up.

Basically, there’s just gonna be racists no matter what race you are..and we’ve probably got the short end of the stick when it comes to that because of recent events…All I can say is that we should set out to prove wrong these people who gave us this bad image. Meaning we shouldn’t react with anger or rage, but instead respond in a whitty, yet intelligent manner. Let the person know that you’re not comfortable with what they’re saying, even if it means to say a short and serious reply and then just walk away from it.

No no no ignoring is NOT a good thing. You need to stand up and let the person know that you’re not okay with it. Don’t be rude or arrogant, just say something that let’s them know that it’s not okay. Do NOT ignore these kinds of things - trust me, I’ve tried that one too many times.

you need to fight fire with fire, he is pretending to be making jokes while making you feel uncomfortable, pick his race, and jokingly say something, for example if he is white, Next time he says something, completely ignore his question, and instead of defending yourself and answering him, say something like, Hey, when is your(his) dad going to Lynch the next Nig..r or Black person, If he acts like he doesnt know what you are talking about, or replies, repeat his answers that he uses when you answer his questions.
Or, say something like "Should I sit in the back of the class, Does it make you feel uncomfortable when colored folks sit next to you? make sure you are loud enough for everyone to hear it and emphasize the colored part, not only will it gain you backing of black/hispanic people in the class, it will alienate him, and put him on the spot, Just like he is doing it to you.
He will think twice before doing it next time.

Disregard the above two posts. They will only prove them right in how they've already labeled us as arrogant and uneducated. Instead, handle the situation in a more mature manner.

You must confront these racists where they are, otherwise it would continue. You should at least make a complaint against him to teachers or school administration. If you were racist towards them then I assure they would be the first to complain about you.
The school should have an anti racist policy.

Tell him that you don’t know what your dad’s next target will be, but that his last one was this guy’s mother, X number of years ago (where X is this guy’s age).
