bohut simple hal hay.. you have to accept that there will always be racism/prejudice in every culture.. and while you can't change everyone around you, just do your part in not having that mindset for yourself and when you deal with others.
you have no idea how many people you may have positively influenced by being a good example. its kind of like a post on a forum.. just because no one comments or replies to it doesnt mean that it hasn't impacted someone.
This question is prompted by a few recent threads/posts on the matter.
Until I joined GS, I was never aware that there never really noticed there were differences between Pakistanis. I guess growing up in a small community, to me all Pakistanis were the same. And ideally, isn't that how we Pakistanis abroad should feel? United, tied to a common homeland?
i didnt realize there were so many differences amongst Pakistanis till i moved abroad and joined GS! all this terminology is completely new to me!
Sara when u talk abt racism within pakistanis so wats ur intake on the other threads when abcds and fobs r in "jung"? i was amazed at the Marrying int'l student thread. look how much hatered some of these posters hav for guys in pak or those studying abroad. y these girls think they r most superior just coz their parents gav them birth in U.S or Canada?
that's kind of a different subject though, this is dealing with ethnic differences...that we cannot help..what you are talking about is dealing with outside influences, like where we were raised, some of our habits etc... anyway that topic was/is beaten to death here.
i don't agree with anybody thinking they are more superior than anyone else, period.

you gave words to my dilemma! it may not be racism by the entire definition .. but it's close! and it's equally bad!
ignorance doesn't help ... just like racism needs to be dealt with ... this needs it too!
