Racism within Pakistanis

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

^Someone on GS is memon...

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

she is memoniii -- like baby-she-sheep
meeeehhhhhhhhh mmeeehhhhhnnnhhhhh

I believe it is not because of your Indian decedent, it is more to do with your country of Birth India on your passport.

I applied for Indian visa, normal procedure is 2 working days, but i am told by Indian High Comm that since my place of birth is Pakistan, it would take few months for my visa to process.

Even if one would show up to the airport (with visa waiver passport) i am sure the immigration officer would still reluctant to let one in (please you understand even having a visa is not guarantee of the entry).

I

I am half memon:chai:

I did get some memon traits, the ones you described. I guess you have to because to fit in with your family members and other memon community. I do detest it and detest what I have become because of adopting bad habits from them.

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

let it go sara. it's something that is now part of our culture. just that some people are not able to get above it.

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

I find it interesting that people don't accept that the world is generally racist. Regardless of nationality or ethnicity. Every community including Pakistan has the same degree of racism. What they don't have that we Pakistanis do is the victim complex that everything about our society is bad and we are the worst. That form of complex is uniquely Pakistani.

I dont see how the act of the immigration officer was racist. You did not have a visa, hence, could not be allowed entry into Pakistan. For the kind of stopover you had, you required a transit visa. The travel agent and Pak consulate in toronto misguided you, and your IG uncle misused his power and authority to gain you entry.

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

pakistanis r at times racist say ur a pathan but ur dark skinned u tell some1 that u r pathan and they laugh and say oh ur kala/kali so how can u be isnt that sterotyping a certain group of people
personally i have experienced racism from other pakistanis likee i have a friend who is mirpuri her mother wasnt best pleased that i come to her house "because she is a pathan and god knows how they are like"

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

i've never experienced anything like this directly but where i live mirpuri's get a lot of flack for being 'backwards' especially in school and college i remember other paki kids teasing mirpuri kids for the way they talk and accusing them of being backwards

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

If one pakistani claims superiority over another because of their dialect, caste, or area from which they originate from then they are seriously deluded and insecure. Nobody is superior than another due to some proffession which was held by their great great great grandfather 200 yrs ago..

It's what you are NOW that matter, how you treat others that matters and what kind of law abiding pakistani you really are. Our religion tells us to stay away from this nonsense, and rightly so.

Re: Racism within Pakistanis

Well we (Pakistanis that is) are raciest to quite an extent. We call African Americans "Kaley", we call Caucasians "Gorey". I still remember we used to make fun of West Indian cricket team by calling them "Kalooo Dewaney". When our mom's go out to look for BAHOO, they look for "goree chitee" bahoo, when moms go out to look for DAMAD, they look for "same bradary damad" (in many cases) and so on ...... One way or another, these are all different forms of racism

Its pity that we point fingers to other people when we are discriminated but we do it every day without even noticing it.

I actually don't do that. First of all if i was looking for a bahu the last thing i would be concerned about would be if she was 'kaali' or 'gori'

I also take care in how I speak about other races. If we ourselves don't change and carry on with this offensive, kaala or gora thing then our kids will follow us. I would never ever want to hear these things from my children.

I know what you mean, the memon girls I know, they dislike some of the qualities too, but they also want to fit in and not be left out, so they go with the flow.

I am talking about norms ...... of course there are exceptions ....

Since you are not Pakistani, so technically you don't qualify fot the 'racism within Pakistanis' thing. =)

And well your uncle abused his powers which makes him/you no better than others.. about wagging the tails, I am sure he does the same around his seniors. Thats how it rolls, doesn't it. =)

I agree, well said :k:

Wah CM shooting firepower today!! Well done.

Aap bilul theek kah rahe hon. Yes afsos ki baat hain ke Hindustani mussalmanoka haal Pakistan me itna bura hota hain. Aisa tau sirf Hindustani Hinduonko hona chahiye.
