Well one can say that in reasonable terms there may well have been some low level activity by Talebanic groups prior to 2003 becuase like a lot of things the Taliban have been around for a while now in the region... however 2003 was indeed a watershed and they only became a serious threat to the state of Paksitan after that date... prior to this thier influence in the region was very limited.

To Spock and Faris:
Taliban terrorism before 2003 was present in the form of thousands of killings of minorities, especially shias, all over the country. Nawaz Sharif himself sent a delegation to the khariji den in Afghanistan to stop the training and other supports the khariji takfiris in killings of minorities.

I did not deny the Taliban were a problem but before 2003 they were not adirect threat to the saftey of the state of Pakistan. If you look at the effect and the tactics that the Taliban employed you would realise that after 2001 when America merely pushed them into thier hell holes they chose to hit out at Pakistan seriously... never before had they dared to attack the HQ at Rawalpindi or to try and destroy aything like Wah cantonement... all that happened very recently. While I am not denying they did much to de-stabilise society in Pakistan they never before made such moves against the state itself... now please end the useless arguement:)

Regarding your kharji rant, yes the MQM are as much kharjis as anyone else who terrorize others, be it in the name of religion or their ethnicity, same thing.
