Very informatic thread. I was searching and searching references in hadeeths if there is any related to Qur’an khani but i couldn’t find. Thats all what i found:

The Sadaqa Jariya is a donation that its reward from Allah SWT continuous for long time. There are many funds that the Sadaqa Jariya could be paid to. Examples of these are: digging wells, building mosques, building schools and distributing the knowledge.

Same question “if we read Qur’an and ask Alllah to send sawab to all Muslims or/and releatives or/and my parents who are no more, will the sawab withh reach them”. Mr. Abdulla Aminuddin (from Peace TV), [EMAIL=“[email protected]”][email protected] answerd:

In the last line it is allowed to pray for the decaased and give charity on his/her behalf. Here is the references which i quoting from Sahih Muslim.

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported that a person said to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him): My father died and left behind property without making any will regarding it. Would he be relieved of the burden of his sing if I give sadaqa on his behalf? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yea. (Book #013 Hadith #4001)

A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that a man said to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him): My mother died all of a sudden, and I think if she (could have the opportunity) to speak she would have (made a will) regarding sadaqa’. Will I be entitled to reward if I give charity on her behalf? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes. (Book #013, Hadith #4002)

But i’m still double minded k reading Qur’an for isaly-e-sawab is permissible or not as well as the second question about k reading Qur’an in a context (in groups)

I don’t get it. How can you be double minded about it when the quoted part clearly says it is bid’ah? bid’ah is completely unlawful no matter if it is a “good” or a “bad” innovation.

About reading Qur’an in a group, I think it’s actually disrespecting the Qur’an. Do we do that to any other chapter book? Do we get together and say “hey you, chapter 4 and I’ll read chapter 9.” No because there is no point in that.

The Qur’an was revealed to be read and acted upon. Sadly, we don’t do that anymore and look to other things that will satisfy us.

Another important issue is that we HAVE to understand that not everything in our Pakistani culture is what’s right in Islam. Religion and culture are two different things and we should not mix them. I think Qur’an khani’s might also be a big part of “culture” issue, not Islam.
