quota system and Pakistan

Re: quota system and Pakistan

And yet non-Punjabis account for so little of the student body in Punjab's universities. I guess of rejection of outsiders is deeply institutionalized in Punjab.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Thanks for this data Mostar. You are an honest man! You have the courage to state the fact even when it goes against the propaganda by "Hum hain to Mohajir" group.

Sindh may have changed had we allowed them equal access to the universities in "Sindhi city called Karachi". Unfortunately we didn't.

As the stats show, Urdu Speaking group has 100% quota in big name schools of Karachi. This is nothing but systematic theft of Sindhi resources. Karachi University never became truly a university of the state. It still remains the schools for Karachi-only, even when it has been funded by the whole Sindh.

I have been to other parts of Pakistan. No other state (or province) has used discriminatory and prejudicial policies towards their own people. Punjab, Sarhad, and Balochistan never stopped their rural folks to be part of their schools. In fact many schools reserve some extra seats for their under developed areas.

I dream of the days when Sarkari (state) universities in Karachi will truly integrate with Sindhi society by opening up admissions to whole Sindh. I long for the days when a truly Open Merit list will be set up without saying Karachi-only first. I know in the short run it will look like a bad idea for "hum hain to mohajir" dada-gir group. However in the long run it will be a win win situation for the state of Sindh (and ultimately for the Federation of Pakistan).

We have given left over crumbs to Sindhi youth for the last 60 years, and now we laugh at them being feeble.

Sad isn't it?

Re: quota system and Pakistan

more provinces to get rid of the provincial ethnic group baazi, and a complete overhaul of quota system. people with limited opportuiintes should be supported and encouraged whether they are from rural punjba, rural sindh or korangi.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

I have not read posts after you and in the beginning of reading the thread.

I agree with you.

What has EVER destroyed Pakistani education and Jobs and its well being may be more than one but one strong factor has been the EVIL QUOTA system.

Why would anyone prefer anything other than MERIT is beyond anyone's guess.

Quota system brought mindless, stupid and unskilled people to education, politics, industries and technical jobs in Pakistan.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Clutching at the straws, are we? The guy gave his words and you accepted it without challenging it because numbers favored your theory :k:

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Antibol! You should also note that there were hardly few sindhies in Karachi before 1947. This was a majority gujrati speaking parsies' city - and all the educational institutes were under their control here except the Sindh Madarrssa. Only few Balouch muslims villages were there on the outskirts of Karachi alongside Malir, Lyari and Hub rivers.

I do not think that Karachi University closed its door for Sindhies up to 1985. In fact if we see medical and engineering colleges, there were many sindhi students back in 1970-1985. Probably Sindhi people did not prefer to take admission in KU as most of the studies over there are not job-based.

Similarly, in Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan, there are hardly few Sindhi students. These two institutes do not observe any sort of quota system.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

But it is a fact that Karachi and Hyderabad leaders - both pre-MQM and post-MQM eras, instead of mingling with the local sindhies, adopted confrontation policies.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Not at all.

For decades they worked hard to find the ways to work in association with local Sindhi leaders. Immigrants including Liaqat Ali Khan were not welcomed by the locals. Unfortunately, muhajirs were treated like the Jews in Germany!!!!!!!. despite they were admired of their skills, intelligence, cultural acts, and humble nature...........In essence, Muhajirs/Immigrants from Idias was the best thing which hapended to Pakistan*..................just like the nurse who catches the new borne baby in her hand and prevent the baby from falling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Comparison with Jews is not correct. Jews never had a party called "Jewish National Movement" in Germany. They never were running a bureaucracy, military leadership, and major corporations.

Krystalnacht (Crystal Night) was against middle class Jewish business, and not against mega industries like BMW. As there were few Jewish people in the higher echelons of German society.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

You seem to be confused my friend.

The comparison is very valid.

Jews were treated badly despite they gave a lot to the country and Muhajirs were also systematiacally treated as second class citizens in Pakistan despite sincerely working for its existence and sustaining its existence.

Muhajirs in Pakistan are like jews in Europe in 1940's.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Its not that Muhajir want special treatment. They just want to be treated respectfully as equal citizens of Pakistan.

People like antiobl just have no clue whatsoever when they spread venom against the builders of Pakistan.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Second class citizens do not State government of Sindh, or second class citizens do not be the presidents either.

Second class citizens do not become CEOs of mega corporations either.

So quit raving and ranting at the wrong time, wrong topic, and utterly wrong arguments.

Thank you!

Re: quota system and Pakistan

I knew you would come up with this argument.

You gave the example of three................did you ever think of millions who suffered just because of being muhajirs?

Vast majority of people who work in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sakkhar in govt offices are non-muhajirs and systematically give domicile to non-residents of these cities so they can acquire illegitimate jobs and residents of these cities can never ever get domicile of the cities other than the cities they were borne.

It is well known that Karachities have one domicile and non-karachiites have multiple domiciles including one from Karachi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being asked where your parents were borne is clearly a discrimination!!!!!!!!!
Muhajirs are very well aware of this.

I have said before and will say again.......Quota system has killed the progress of Pakistan and brought stupid, unskilled, illeterate and dumb people to the machinary of Pakistan.

Anyone who supports quota system is against the progress of Pakistan.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

To differ between muhajirs and non-muhajirs is a discrimination is a crime. Your thoughts. Thank you, but vast majority in Pakistan doesnt recognize muhajir non-muhajir bs.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

You stated vast majority doesnt recognize the difference......................hope and wish you are right.

So why does Pakistan has discriminatory, evil system of quota system?

Why do we have majority of people supporting this evil system which has destroyed the progress of Pakistan??

Why intellient, sincere, capable people are systematically removed from getting govt. official positions by asking silly questions like where your parents were borne or do you have relatives in army?????

Answer after using brain and logic please!

Re: quota system and Pakistan

If I say vast majority I focus on the people of Pakistan not on Govt. Officials. Anyone who questions system within Pakistan, must be aware of Pakistans corruption level, which is unfortunately quite high. Nevertheless who so ever believes that mujahirs are a minority and are treated as worse as Shias, Ismailis, Ahamdis, Christians needs to get his head checked.
This is my point.

Re: quota system and Pakistan

Look deedawar! we can go at it for the next 10 years and still arguing about petty stuff.

Mohajirs are no less and no more discriminated than other ethnicities in Pakistan.

If you are ever in doubt, check out your cousins in India,

If your cousins in India are driving bigger cars,
Or living in larger houses,
Or going to better schools (in larger numbers),

Then you have a point.

Otherwise why to create sour threads? And especially now?

This thread was dead for a long time, you suddenly picked it up and started arguing.

Don't you know that the country is going through difficult time, and the last thing they need is yet another ethnic clash?

So please in the name of Pakistan, let's not attack on others just because their ethnicity is different.

Thank you.
