This thread is depressing. It’s like gathering around a camp fire…and instead of telling ghost tales…stories of the shortest marriages are being shared. 
One of my relos got divorced after three months (which is longer than the time frames mentioned here). She never saw it coming…vaguely remember that her husband had told her that she should visit her mother as it was her (the girl’s) birthday…and then like a coward delivered the divorce papers to her home. Couldn’t do it in person. Came out later that it was all premediated and the guy had wanted to marry his cousin. Well, he never got his wish. He then married a girl who was said to be very pretty but uneducated as she was poor. The family knew that she wasn’t educated but would taunt her about it after marriage. This second wife of his got so tired of the abuse…that she got into contact with the former wife who told her that was treated no better. The second wife then gave HIM the divorce. Talk about karma and tables being turned. This guy…ages after divorcing my cousin (the first wife)…had messaged me asking how she was doing…and said that he was miserable and felt bad for what he did. I guess what goes around eventually comes around.
And another example that comes to mind is of another cousin…who got an annulment maybe the day after her “wedding.” Her sister-in-law was complainging that my cousin should wear her dupatta a certain way. My cousin was adamant to wear in the way she had chosen. The nand went and told the groom. He got angry at my cousin (so the story goes) over a dupatta…and after that they were in court putting an end to things. She’s now married to a guy whose a few years younger than her…but him and his family (from what I heard) treat her like a princess. She moved to England where she’s now enjoying a better standard of living is expecting her first child. Talk about getting really “lucky”…though I don’t belive in the idea of luck.
