Re: Quick question about pulao
technically pulao is not suppose to have tomatoe. I don't, I prefer it without tomatoe.
Re: Quick question about pulao
Lusi is right, pulao is suuposed to be without tomatoes n red chilies, but if you want to add make them into paste with little yogurt, green chilies, garam masala, ginger and garlic and add that paste into your pulao it has amazing smell and taste...
Re: Quick question about pulao
Pulao is more than 2000 years old dish. The old world came to know about tomatoes only 500 years ago.
Hakim Abu Sena (Avicenna) included a recipe of pulao in his book.

Re: Quick question about pulao
Biryani is a kind of pulao. It is indeed the indianisation of pulao which is basically a central asian dish.

Re: Quick question about pulao
i would use tomatoes in the masala only.
Do you guys add the chicken pieces from the yakhni to the masala and bhoonofy it a bit & then add the yakhni in before rice. It comes out really good :)

No, I don't bhonafy chicken in masala...that is not pulao lol
I add ginger garlic paste, cinnamon stick, clove, black cardimon, (sometimes onion) and salt in the yakhni. My pulao always comes out good. :)
Re: Quick question about pulao
Ok I have boneless beef cubes and I want to make pulao out of it. I don't have any whole spices. Recipes please? it will only be for myself, so please also tell me how much rice to make. Thank yewwwww
Re: Quick question about pulao
Sara i would say first marinate the cubes in yogurt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala powder, salt, chili powder (or any pulao, biryani or tikka masala is best), you can add meat tenderizer if you have to fasten the process.
Then cook it either in pressure cooker or in normal pan till it gets dry.
Separately make masala, fry cumin seeds(if you don't have whole seed no problem leave it) in oil, then add onions fry them till light brown.
add your cooked meat, saute it little till it leaves oil, then add water, boil it then add salt n add rice in it.
When you are about to put the pulao for dum add green chilies (you can add green chilies in you meat at step 1 by making the minto paste), mint leaves at top n sprinkle little garam masala.
you can also make this masala separately, just add tomatoes n yogurt in it, n boil rice separately to make biryani. for biryani you dont need to cook meat separately first just add in onions.
You need to make only a glass of rice for yourself, but depends how much boneless cubes you have of meat.
Re: Quick question about pulao
^^ that is a biryani and not pulao recipe.

Boneless meat for pulao - a big no! Save it for kebabs or kotfas or something else.

First one is pulao recipe, i just marinate meat usually so at it gets the masalas deep into it.
