aapka taluq kahan sey hey?
My family has business in mianwali so i know alot about the area. There are three types of people in mianwali.
1- Pashtuns
a- Niazi is the main tribe , most of the people of isakhel tehsil which lie east of indus river, are niazis. they are also found in areas of mianwali across the indus. They are almost half of the total population of district. They migrated from ghor province of afghanistan few hundred years ago and settled in lakki marwat district of kpk. From there they came to miawali, defeated jats and ghakkars and settled there. With time they lost pashto and adopted seraiki. They look like pashtuns, have retained tribal framework i.e they have jirga system and their villages names end with -khel. Some of the niazi villages still speak pashto but majority are seraiki speakers. many can speak pashto as second language due to close proximity with kpk.
They are socially and politically ruling class of mianwali.
B- khattaks
Kalabagh region is inhabited by pashto speaking bangi khel khattaks, its ruling family is awan though. khattaks are culturally and linguistically full pashtuns.
C- bilach
Not to be confused with ethnic balochs, they are pashto speakers in south minwali and are proud pashtuns.
2- jats and awans
Original inhabitants of mianwali,
3- Settlers from east punjab
they migrated from east punjab and settled here in 1947, they are concentrated in mianwali city and other towns. they speak punajbi instead of seraiki
Mianwali was part of bannu district upto 1970, after dissolution of one unit it was given to punjab.
