but the thread says " QUESTIONS TO A SHIA". So I will pass and leave it to my Shia friends to answer. Also I think your objective is to get Shia point of view.
... and questions for shias just keep rolling in. :)
Its like some people have nothing better to do then poke fun at others' religious beliefs (in guise of asking "innocent" questions), and expect others to spend their mental calories answering them all the time. Its not like there is a shortage of shia-sunni discussions here.
There are differences in beliefs and practices because their Religious Sources are different.
Religious Sources of Islam = Qur’aan and Sunnah
Qur’aan (The Book/Alkitaab)
Sunnah (The Narrations/Ahadeeth from the Prophet :saw: and those who each sect believes to be his true followers from the early Muslims).
Their version of the Sunnah is vastly different from ours because their books are seperate.
Now unless we both agree on the same Touchstone for verifying right from wrong we can’t say to each other “you’re wrong, look it says so over here” because they don’t believe in what you belive in to be authentic, Al-Bukhari and Al-Muslim are trash to them just as Al-Kafi and Al-Tahzeeb are trash to us.
So you can’t go upto a Shia and say why do you believe such a thing unless your stance is backed by something he also believes in (such as Koran or a authentic hadith which might have slipped into their books), otherwise what you say will have no value to him, you consider mut’ah wrong because your hadith books forbid it whilst he considers it right because his hadith books condone it.
I can say to a Barelvi “look here, building fancy structures over saints graves is wrong” or that “Our Prophet :saw: did Rafa al-Yadain in prayer” because we both believe in the same Ahadeeth, after that if he rejects it he’s just being silly.. but you cant do that with a Shiah because you dont hold the same sources as authentic.
I think before we get into comparative religion we should study both sects properly with an open mind to come to the truth always remembering that it’s for Allaah’s razaa not partianship or “I’m better than you”. Study Sunni Islam from Jeddah or Cairo, then go to Tehran and study Shiah Islam so that you are in a better position to judge who is right and who is wrong…
I’ve seen a lot of times that a person from one sect will condemn the beliefs of the other and pull out dodgy ahadeeth which the other’s sect belives to be fabricated/weak anyway, ot take a hadith out of context or they’ll get a valueless fatwa from a “mr nobody” from the others sect just to trash the other and make themselves look better.
Sir jee, expect Iranian /cultural/governmental/geographical related questions rest of them already been asked many times directly or indirectly on this fourm no idea why U want to repeat everything twice / thrice.
We all here aware of this situation that there is difference between our (shia i.e. Fiaqh e Jafferia) and your fiqah (whatever fiqah you follow – Hanafi/Humbali/Malaki/Shafai).
LOL, I highly doubt that. Actualy, the OP found these question while googling (just google the first question) and thought it would be fun posting em here. He was toooo eager copy.n.pasting, he failed to read the very first sentence of the text in his excitement. Which clearly states whom theses questions are directed to.
woh kiya kehte hain, naqal kay liyay bhee aqal zaroori The poor soul is suffering from some sort of shiaphobe. :-/
Anyway most of the question posted are not even about shia faith. If the OP in his “rite mind” thinks that shiaism is all about iranian culture, then sorry to disappoint him. Thats not the case. And I also doubt that the person, who actually gathered these question knows anything about shiaism. (see Question 9)
And some questions, which really are about shia belief, are already been answered in very detail. Backed up with historical facts and references from esteemed sunni books at following sites.
because they don't believe in what you belive in to be authentic, Al-Bukhari and Al-Muslim are trash to them just as Al-Kafi and Al-Tahzeeb are trash to us.
No, we dont think Al-Bukhari and Al-Muslim are trash. We just dont believe that these books are 100% Sahih. I've actually seen shia ulema giving references or using traditions from theses two books.
erm......i don't mean to offend...and since we are on this topic i wanted to ask.....if it not already there....that why do shias hit themselves on "ashura" when erm correct me but when muslims aren't allowed to self-harm?

Enough has been said about this barbaric and satanic ritual which is unislamic from head to toe…
Prophet never did it.
Ali never did it.
Sahaba never did it.
Tab’eeen never did it
Taba-tab’een never did it.
This devlish ritual is as unislamic as worshipping idols and inflecting harm to your self is haram according to Quran and on top of that it does not make sense. The shia mullahs and imams never perform this ritual but encourage young shias to do matam to themselves, do to their children (cut foreheads of their children, etc.). See its importance?
Rasool Allah and Ali e Murtaza have been passed away before the event of Karbala happened. Bibi Fatima Zehara did mourn over his father (Rasool Allah’s) death, she only lived 90 days after the demise of Rasool e Khuda. First mourner of Imam Hussain was his beloved sister Bibi Zainab and his son Imam Zain ul Abideen.
