I have heard it in a lecture from a religious scholar who I respect highly. Someone said to Hazrat Umar (RA) . Why are you wasting your wealth in the name of a Allah you never saw and have no proof of. Hazrat Umar said . Even if you are right that there is no Allah then I am not a loser anyway. Believing in Allah does not hurt me but when we die and ultimately we find out that there is in fact Allah , who will be the loser ultimately ? I or you ? So believing in Allah does not hurt me in any way but it can hurt you if in fact there is Allah(SWT) .
P.S. Now don't ask me how it helps Allah if we believe in Allah , that is a separate discussion. and this is not the only reason that I believe in Allah(SWT).
Right, but the thing is..even if God exists, how do I know which religion is the ultimate truth. Jews don't accept Jesus as the Messiah and Christians don't accept Muhammad as the last prophet and muslims don't accept Mirza Ghulam Ahmed as Mehdi. they all claim to know the truth. I can't accept one religion to be the ultimate truth because we don't know.
Besides, believing in God and following a religion are two separate things.

I haven't decided yet....I want to believe that you are not but I have come across many posts by you that tend to focus attention on the glass being half empty rather than full. This is even more apparent when it comes to discussions about religion.....be it Islam or any other. If I were to read between the lines sometimes I fee like you are saying that the whole concept of religion and belief in a higher authority has let you down in life.
I hope that you don't take this as an attack....it's simply an observation......

^Muzna- To be honest, yes religion has let me down and it isn’t a secret nor is it meant to be one. I am however not bitter towards people.
Also, let’s not forget that I am probably the only atheist on this forum who is also very active and I am constantly being questioned/attacked by other members. Sometimes you may feel I am coming across as bitter but in fact I am just fed up answering all these questions.
Imagine being the only muslim on an atheist forum and being bombarded with all the questions and having to explain your position every single time. You can’t help but feel annoyed.
Before someone advise me to leave, please understand I am NOT here to argue over religion, I am here to understand the mindset of the people I am supposed to be a part of. Unfortunately, religion is always dragged into a discussion since it IS a big part of your life.
I don’t know…maybe I will just leave again.

I don’t disagree that a creator might be out there but I highly highly doubt that the God described by abrahamic religions even exist. I am not joking either.

I believe that if we follow that voice on the most fundamental of things in life like truth, compassion etc. then the tiny details take care of themselves.
