Where do most of the british paki stay?
What are some of the problems faced by them?
What are some of the factors for their isolation and lack of education?
Even though it might have been discussed before i want a discussion of the challenges facing paki community in britain and how can we help them
pakistany community is spread accross the entire united kingdom
you have certain areas which has become a total 'paki' are in different cities
eg the city of bradford is also known as bradistan this is as a result of influzx of factory workers and their families during the 50's 60's and 70's
Birmingham has its areas, as does London
scotland also has quite a high population
some people tend to stay away from the more desi areas and live in small towns or villages.
it all depends on their choices.
what tends to happen esp in cities that an almost white area will slowly get an influx of asians as they gain wealth they move to the "posher" areas and the goras move out
Watch "I Proud To Be Indian" if you watch Bollywood movies and you'll understand our situation and know exactly why Pakistanis (and Desis in general) in this country prefer limiting themselves to their own cliques over main stream British society and why we call ourselves "British by paper, Paki by nature" despite being second/third generation and you'll also understand why our younger generation are attracted to and look for belonging in terrorist cults.
I also recommend White Teeth by Zadie Smith.
The lower class Brits were always very ignorant and racist but now with all this anti-Muslim media/goverment propoganda even educated middle and upper class Britons are turning racist but who cares feelings are mutual.
It doesn't bother us though, we Pakis are far too narcissistic to care about what a bunch of Brits think of us.
Thanks cheegy. Would you like to share your views on the matter though. You know how much Gamma enjoys cheegys posts and he hasnt been posting as much :(
i started reading londonstani, havnt finished it yet
the book is written in slang
and if you dont know what the words mean ur stuck
it shows the life that alot of asians get into
the gang culture they take on so they fit in
these kids are very confused
outside one thing
in home another
you see the tensions between the pakistani and indian kids too
So you think that its a mixture of our lack of education and our general attitude towards life/society that limits us from progressing?
it is not lack of EDUCATION
it is lack of understanding lack of willingness in some cases of even mixing
people are educated but they insist on thinking as if they still live in pakistan villages.
literally pakistan has been "imported" here
you go down Alum rock ,Stratford Rd, sparkbrook spark hill well known birmingham areas for their desi population and you will find ALOT of people from kashmir & the Dadyaal area of pakistan. and the way they live in pak with baradrii(family) is exactly the same here i am not saying it is wrong, i am saying it wont allow them to progress.
the kids are moing away from that type of situation, becoming more english
We have had a few close deaths in the family over the past three years and the amount of non-religious customs that these people have brought with them really drove me mad! The same on many other occasions (happy ones too)
