Why are we better? What makes our dua or prayer more significant than a devout christians/jews/hindus/bhuddist person?
Why do we get priority over a non-believer if we commit sins all our lives yet the non-believe is rid of all sins? Why does God listen to us more… or does He?
why dont we just believe as one and pray as we like?

The Quran says that the Muslims are “the best nation brought forth for humanity” because they enjoin what is good and forbid what is wrong and believe in God (Quran 3:110). Notice that the verse says Muslims were brought forth for “humanity” and not just Muslims.
As for praying 5 times , it is mandated in Quran too. The word 5 times is not mentioned but the timing have been mentioned at various places in Quran so it makes it 5 times. It is reported in many many ahadees that our holy prophet(SAW) used to pray 5 mandatory prayers.

Muslim being the best nation described in Quran has nothing to do with why we are in the current state. There are so many traits of good Muslims also mentioned in Quran we do not possess those traits.
Then there are many verses in Quan telling us that Allah tests us for our steadfastness in our beliefs and eman.

Followers of almost all the religions in the world have same kind of beliefs of supiriority about themselves. In my opinion it's all hogwash and nothing more than a d!ck-measuring contest.
Laws of the Universe are the same for each and every human being.

Animals and humans are both forms of life what makes us 'better' is the notion that we can exercise judgement and we have awareness. We are made in the best mould. Likewise our teacher (SAW) is the best example of the best of moulds and Muslims are only the best nation if they truly follow his (SAW)'s example.
If we behave like animals we are worse than them because we aught to know better, if we behave with the ignorance of other nations then we are worse than them because we aught to know better.
A Muslim who does not practice Islam is a type of hypocrite and the Qur'an says that hypocrites will occupy the lowest domains of hell ... yes even lower than the mushrikeen.
To be the best comes with its requriements and also comes with its burdens. There is not a matter of arrogance about it, rather we should humble ourselves and believe we are hypocrites to protect oursevles from complacency and hence treat all other people as though they are better than us, so we can better serve them and show them how to be kind, charitable and altruistic.

there is one objective reality. different religions are different explanations of it. if you're a Muslim, you believe you've got a hold of the right one, and thats the prism through which you see the world. if you're a Muslim, you believe in verses such as the one quoted by Mirch, and therefore see your religion as superior to others. If you're a Muslim you therefore feel that you are better (in religious terms) than others who believe in God.

Please read the Parable of the Wicked Tenants in the Bible ... the covenant of Ibrahim (AS) has been passed over because the Jews neglected their responsibility to be the best people. They were chosen to lead us to piety, but instead they enslaved and competed for the world with one another.
They USED to be the chosen people.

I think the answer to your first question is:
Yes, many non-believers are better humans than muslims.
But being muslim and testifying the Shahahda
'There is only one God Allah, and Muhammad (pbuh) is his final messnger'
This is the most weighty good deed in existance. This is the most beloved deed to Allah ( I can give you bukhari ref if u want), which will carry all muslims to heaven eventually.
The non-belivers miss out on this one simple yet weighty deed, therefore on the last day there balances wont be strong enough to enter heaven.
Infact, this is the principle belief that the non-muslims reject, which is the biggest insult and biggest sin infront of Allah.
The good deeds they do, they will recieve all the due rewards for those in this world, not in here-after.
Therefore maybe this is the answer to the question, that why the west is doing so good, and many non-muslims r so succesful and thier prayers and needs (many a time to fake gods) are answered.
I feel this is the rewards of their good deeds of this life.
Why we muslims are often doing badly, is because of our sins and neglect of the Sunnah. We are being punished and tested in this life to bring us on the right path, also hopefully we will be spared of the big punishment by taking some in this life.

THAT IS INCORRECT.
The shahada is the 'passport', but the entry time ('visa') from Allah, depends on your deeds.
many muslims are muslims only by intention (i.e saying shahadah), but not on deeds, commit many sins, neglect sunnat.
Such type will be briefly destined to hell, as punishment, but eventually go to Heaven, due to having possesion of the shahadah.
So therefore just because we are muslim it does not mean we automatically go to heaven.
Muslims that are liars, drinkers, cheats, immorals, etc will definitly have to account for it.
But we are indeed grateful and Greatly blessed to be born as muslims in the first place.
As the Brother stated above, the Jews were the chosen people, but because of their ungratfulness and deviance from faith, Allah withdrew the favour from them and lended it to the arabs.
May Allah make us all steadfast in the deen.

It's good to believe we're the best but more important is to perform the deeds that make us the best.
Regarding judgement, only Allah knows who is the closest to Him and who is a true believer.
We are different because Allah made us all different. Some have the privilege of being born muslim, some convert when they are exposed to it while some never seek more information because they are content with where they are at, or sometimes the message of Islam never even reaches them.
So yeah, we muslims have been blessed with pure guidance. We are the only religion to have a preserved and unchanged Book, authentic hadith that can be traced to the the original narrators, the seerah and sunnah, but it is up to us to act upon all that is readily available to us. However to live in arrogance that we are the best would be foolish because I am not beyond judgement.
