Re: question to all married girls n guys
i am hubby, and i have the same argument too, though i keep 1 hour for my wife to be ready, but she always exceeds it by a half or more hours! asking her to get ready first and then myself doesnt work well either, i get ready in max 30 minutes. she takes minimum 1 hour for just a shopping trip and if a small bad packing involved, i have to give her good 5 hours notice ;) or we will be missing some packing stuff.
1 hour should be enough.
and women who ask or require more, I guess they should learn from working women, i observed they take less to be ready.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
I can understand the 2hrs for a wedding. If you include shower, clothes, styling, make-up, etc. Frankly, in that situation I'd feel that you might have the food cooked, but perhaps your hubby could be the one to warm it up and serve it to his parents?
As for the last-minute plans to others, I would need 15 minutes or so, to fix hair, touch-up make up, maybe change into something.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
i take about 30 min- 1 1/2 hours (for dawats/dinner) and a little more for weddings. hubby doesnt mind and never says anything. he just occupies himself with the computer or TV. but i feel bad taking so long sometimes. but thanks MABROOK and PSQUARED, i LOVE your hints. so practical and EASY to do!!
oh, and about the cooking thing, i can vouch for the scented candle idea. i have anywhere from 5-10 scented candles all over my house burning while cooking. that way NOTHING smells. not my hair, my clothes, the sofas, not even the clothes in the closet. nothing! its wonderful. :)
scented candles tip is interesting!
usually if you're invited to a davat or wedding, you get some kind of notice right? so i usually prepare clothes, jewellery and accessories the evening before so all i have to do on the day of the wedding/davat/etc is get ready.

the problem with the kitchen is not just the smells; i perspire like so much u cud make a dam and generate elecro power from it :(:( even if i have to make tea :(:(

If you don't have time for a quick shower, try wiping your neck, face, underarms, anywhere you perspire with a baby wipe or a soft cloth soaked in witch hazel. This was a big problem for me when I was in Pakistan last year and the water was continuously shut off in the apartment building I was staying in. Fortunately, I had my bottle of witch hazel and that helped a lot.
As for your hair (and i wouldn't do this too often), you can try sprinkling a bit of baby powder into it and combing it out. The powder absorbs any moisture from the perspiration and gets rid of the smell too.

Get him a PS3 and FIFA 09 then take as long as you need... Sweet bliss.....

wats witch hazel n wat it does?
that powder in hair works good with oily hair.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
as far as i know, witch hazel is usually an ingredient in toners. its an astringent. good for oily skin and acne. ......i guess in this case it does make sense that it would be great for cleaning up with on the go.

^ most men wouldn't do that. only a handful pakistani men are that nice.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
The best solution to this is start wearing extreme Hijaab! only show your eyes and saves you time for make up!

No men in pakistan won't do that. men living in joint family would never dare do that. same men in west become really nice and helpful :) but with right training ofcourse.
how many times does it happen that u r in the kitchen and ur hubby says, lets go out to some body's house - now even if ure not hot n sweaty, u need half an hr to get ready right?!!!!! and my hubby just says, oh u look fine just like that...since i am telling u u look fine, why r u worried abt what others will think?!!!!
This is a problamatic statement on his part. Sorry but he is a moron in my opinion. You dont need emergency strategies and plans to comply with his stupid demands.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
hmmm not really. Dont think we have argued about this.. we hardly do anything on the spare of the moment cus noone really lives near us... family lives on the other side of town and for that we do put some time aside...
In terms of getting ready... i ask for about 20min.. and the hubz knows i get ready a lot faster than he does.. so we've never had an argument about this.. honestly i cant remember.
But, yes if i have been in the kitchen cooking all day.. especially desi food, then my hubby insists i have a shower and do my hair because i'll smell like salan.. and i agree. So no argument from him.
make up.. blah... dont wear it that much so no issue there

Because we don't expect them to. That can be changed.

why would that statement make him a moron?? i dont get it.
He is her husband. If he reckons she looks great as she is, how would that make him a moron? Id think he was rather sweet...
His demands arent stupid either. Maybe they just need to communicate a little clearly. If he wants to go out on the spare of the moment.. at least give the wifey 15-20 min.
Re: question to all married girls n guys
um i dunno abt other ppl, but i wud never stop someone from takin a shower. especially if it was my wife. i'll wait all day.

^ i really don't know about that...i tried with my husband but it didn't work. and the funny thing is he has never lived in PK!
