Question for the ladies [split from male gynecologists]

Ladies…would you be comfortable going to a male gyno?

I wouldnt be comfortable at all... i don't even feel comfortable with male GPs, let alone male gynaes...

Re: male gynecologists

no way its haram against islamic culture, sarah ma bohat bara gunah hay

Re: male gynecologists

Uh.

If there is no other option, who is it to say its haram?

People need to study their religion before joining the haram police.

^ True.

If there was an option of a female gynecologist I would prefer to be seen by her but if there wasn't I wouldn't really kick up a fuss.

Re: male gynecologists

what if its the surgery on a female private area or any area for that matter since there is going to be touching, and only good surgeon available is male. (btw female surgeons in Pakistan are very rare let alone good one). What does Islam say about that.?

dont eat her up guys because she mentioned religion! that was her opinion. lets move on and express our own opinions plz.

Now, about umar25x's question, as we know Islam allows one to drink alcohol if it was to save his/her life, it allows one to pray without wudu if facilities are not available, it allows one to have plastic surgery for health reasons etc... so im sure going to a male surgeon would be absolutely fine if there was no other option.

Again, as mentioned above, if there is no option of a female gyn then it does not make it "haram" to see male gyn.

Re: male gynecologists

OK WOW i had no idea some of you were so ignorant.

The same people who say its haram for a woman to be seen by a male doctor are probably not in favor of having women become doctors. So whats a woman to do if she cant see a male doctor and theres no women doctors arond either...poor her for being born a woman right? ;)

No its not that someone mentioned religion but rather making such an ignorant claim.

As far as I, and most of the sane and rational people believe, when it comes to matters of health and medicine, it is not haram at all fo ra woman to be seen by a male doctor, especially in cultures/countries where there are not very many practicing female doctors.

Re: male gynecologists

I think in this age and country there is no excuse that you can't find a female gynecologist .

One shouldnt want just a gynecologist, but the best you can have access to. If its a male, then its a male. Sex of the doctor shouldnt limit your health.

:nahi: NEVER I don’t go to any male doc’s.

Re: Question for the ladies [split from male gynecologists]

Would you ladies be open to marrying a male obgyn?

1) Yes. My gyn is a male.

2) My BF is a dr. He has friends who went into OB/GYN. I just asked him his thoughts on it. He said most go into it b/c there're surgery involved, it's challenging, and most patients are healthy.

** on a side note, I've heard BF and his friends (ALL of whom are doctors in all different fields) talk about their patients countless times. I've never heard any of them talk about their patients in a sexual manner.

Yes.

Re: Question for the ladies [split from male gynecologists]

  1. I'd rather not go to a male gyno when females are available. It's more of a religion and modesty issue for me.

  2. Most doctors REALLY don't think of patients in a sexual manner, for them- it's a field of medicine and that's all. Mostly they consider the fact that it's so rewarding- delivering babies and everyone being happy and all, you get to know your patients because they stay in your care for a while, it's procedure oriented but not too competitive like other fields of surgery etc.

Re: Question for the ladies [split from male gynecologists]
