^ Yes they are. If you are getting a positive feedback out of it. I am sure you know that musicians all over the world spend sometime on net to gain pointers. Similarly many football players check out discussion boards to gain feedback abuot their performances. If your net activities dont disrupt your work, I can only advise you to streamline it and use it for your betterment rather than munh-laging some person ;-)
Saby, can you please merge the other two SS threads into this one? I think there is a ton of first hand knowledge on Pakistan Film in those threads. Thanks.
ML ,
Alrite i am not a big time lolly movies watcher and i dotn really know whats the latest there. but i do have a question, here people generally say that meera, reema etc came from heera mundi. I dont know if they are joking or are serious. Is there any truth in that?
you can PM me the answer if you want
Thanks in advance:)
^ Why the hell are you so concerned about Heera Mandi and Reema? Good God.
Mr. Lucman, ARY has not started airing your trailors. You might wanna check up on that...
As for net addiction it is CERTAINLY NOT WORTH IT. Let me tell you first hand, that this place can be destructive. But its a good place to get feedback on your films, so I'd suggest you let it serve just that. For now, you need to promote the movie right?
I don't understand why your directors/producers decide to do promotions for like 3 weeks. Pehla Pehla Pyar will be released, and I can guarantee you that very few in the States will know about it.
^ Hey don't knock it down. If you were that randi, what would be your first tactic to get out of heera mandi? I'd be knocking on film studio doors too.
At least give them credit that they're trying to get a better life. Reema and these girls might be from Heera Mandi or not, I don't give a hoot. But if you're a good director, then you can get these girls to act well. They have the potential most definitely - its just that they're so used to BAD direction.
Mr Lucman, though I have a huge test to study for I'm just totally hooked to this Pehla Pehla Pyaar thing.
On this forum you have talked about using technicians from across the border, such as choreographers, singers, cinematographers etc, which was rather disapproved by some, including myself. You've said that the local choreographers are 'dance directors' and they can not use the modern equipment that you have used for your film. I can well understand your predicament. It also makes sense that in this era of globalisation, countries build on each other's competitive advantage.
But the critical question remains -- how are we going to devleop the human capital required to sustain the Lahore industry? We can not rely on imported technicians, singers, choreographers if we ever want to get to the target of those 125 films a year we made decades ago. It just doesn't seem economically feasible. Someone has to teach this Khanoo guy how to use those ARRI cameras. Someone has to get out there and get new voices. The arrangers have to be coaxed in making brilliant stuff they make with the pop singers and in the non-film albums. The government? Yes, but they have their hands tied with so many other things. Institutes are ideal, but on-the-job training could help too. Like Asim Reza used the lollywood choreographer (or dance diircetor, as you say) Nigar Hussain for Abrar's Sanu Terey Naal video. The results were breathtaking -- better than some bollywood stuff. I'm sure Reza would have had to work a zillion times harder than if he had a choreographer at hand, but I'm sure in the process the Lollywood choreographer learnt a few things too. And the results paid off.
You, on the other hand are a debutante film maker. I can totally understand why you'd want to use the best available because the stakes are so high for you. On the other hand, people who've been in this business like Syed Noor and other veterans can definitely pitch into this human capital development drive.
Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)
Welcome to the board Mr. Mubasher Lucman , I have a question about how you got into direction? Did you have some kind of formal education? And what kind of response you have received so far from Pakistan just generally speaking. How are the facilities over there for making a good movie? Thank you and Good luck with the movie, I hope you do well...
Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)
Well I never implied that anyone is a randi. All i meant was that its here where you can actually learn your dancing skills, so even if you do nto belong to that place or area chances are you will be influenced by it directly...
Yes I Know Shahid Nadeem Sahib...
On dance directors, I confess there haev to be some of us who must start ti\o contribute to the education of teh local lot. But a few out there do not even want to get educated. I will give you an example. We hired a local DOP (Camera MAn) I asked him to join us in Thailand and be an observor, after that there was a three weeks course by American Cinematographers Association in Far East Kodak ahd agreed to sponsor our DOP for this one. The idea was that he would observe our Indian friends and later do this course in Singapore and join us for the rest of the film about 60 % in pakistan. He refused he thought I was trying to tell the world that he is not educated!!!!!!!!!! I had to shift my entire shooting to another part--Dubai to gett he same team....how can you teach someone who does nt wish to learn. There are people like Khanu who are exceptionally good and keen to learn. I agree but then thats the job of the major studios to train their own employees..like Evernew Studios etc....I mean all over the world big budget films are made by studio owners and they invest in their employees to learn emerging technology and thats how it goes. In Pakistan these people have made studios out of films and still do nto wish to invest in films or their staff..how can you explain that???
Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)
Typical blame game. The film makers blame the studios, the studios blame the distributors, the distributors blame the public, the piublic blame back the film makers…!
Someone somewhere has to put his foot down and take some corrective steps. Why don’t you use those cutting edge DOPs who are making those slick videos? Ali Mohammed, Salman Khan? WHy the stndard Lahori fare?
And Mubashar Lucman Sir, this is really important – are Zara Sheikh and Resham actually hookers?
Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)
Mr Lucman - please don't get discouraged by idiotic remarks such as the one above this one. There are all sorts of people on this forum.
Man with a Plan, you asked about studios and film making in Pak. I think Mubasher has detailed it out in one of his posts. Please read the entire thread.
Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)
mubasher may be you should make a webiste about the pakistan film industry cause there really isnt any right now, you can provide the latest news and box office info and write reviews on new films when they release.
