Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

I happened to watch the clasic pakistani film ‘Heer Ranjha’. I think its the most romantic film in the Indo Pak sub-continent. There are so many elements in the film which have been copied in lot of indian flicks like the mustard fields , the punjabi culture, the ‘cham cham nachan’ song seems to be replicated in many yash chopra films like silsila, DDLJ to depict punjabi village and stuff.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

you are absolutely right. Talk about melody and storyline Heer Ranjha is an institution in itself. By the way this film has been made almost 21 times both in India and Pakistan and the version directed by Masood Pervaiz starring Firdaus and Ijaz was the only one that had true success. I also agree with your comments about Indians being inspired from it.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

I think Khwaja Khurshed Anwar is the most brilliant music composer in the sub-continent. He was a genius. Heer Ranjha’s music is the best example of the range of music he could create. There are music directors who have a trade mark style and they can’t deviate from that. But the thing about Khwaja Sahib is he made music according to the look and feel of the film he was dealing with. He could make music for a Heer Ranjha and a Koel as well; now not many music directors can prove that level of diversity.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

well PCG that is wat is being done, right now in lahore there are over 30 new shopping malls u/c and most of them have a cinema screen in them, with bowling lanes, i guess the same thing is happening in karachi is well.

imax center on mm alam road will be second largest cinema in asia, it has 2 massive screens, 1 which will be 92 feet and is to open on 14th august next year.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Mr.Lucman, u must hav been scanning that ongoing rush abt the FILM DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION elections...i mean what is the insight scenario, if u plz care to share...i mean u r not one ov thoz ppl who sit back and let things happen...what de ye think it's all about...y do we suddenly hear abt this new set up...why is sangeeta 'ji' making a whole noise over it...who r contesting...y r pervez rana n altaf hussain punching their fists...are in involved sumhow???...plus plz keep us updated abt the status of PPP...

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Well if you are reading the papers you know that I backed out of the elections and I did not want any part of it but then the producers association forced my name in the executive council that is supposed to run the affairs of the council and they haev also put my name as the chairman for next year. But then there is still a year to go and right now we haev to concentrate on this one if we are successful then Jamshed Zafar will become the v chairman this year with all of us int he the executive council. The reason I was supporting Sangeeta is because for the past 19 years there were no elections in the directors association causing redundancy and a monarchy now I feel Sangeeta and her panel should win so it will atleast bring fresh people to make fresh policies and give a new look. Meanwhile a lot is happening between AAP and MAAP as well will keep you posted if you are interested.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

last evening I went to see a movie at Plaza and saw your movie’s trailer

The quality was ok, but I fear the story of this movie is quite complex.. thats what i felt. It looks like a comercial movie with a storyline of art movie

If this is the case then i pray for its success, because people might not be ready from complete lact of story to ‘too much story’ .

Well that is what i felt, I hope my fears are just imaginary.

But still, i don’t see any advertisments… I am telling this again without proper campaign people might not even go to watch the movie, let alone like it. Rema’s movie fared reasonablly well just because of powerful publicity on media…

Lastly you said ‘Indian punjabi movies suck’… well you need to see the two movies made by Harbajan Maan, (the singer) “Asaam nu maan watna da” and “Jee Ayaan noon” easily available in market

These are excellent movies, and they show the rich culture of Punjab in best possible way,
Made with proper budget, technically not inferior than any indian movie and very sound and interesting movies, real slap in the face of pakistani punjabi film producers.

I believe If we produced clasics like heer ranjha, we can still produce good punjabi movies which will do business eventually

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

thanks we shall start the commercials once the date is given, besides the two Indian movies you have mentioned are very recent ones with all crew and even some artists from Mumbai. Yes they have realised their Punjabi films are too vulnerable but still on a regular basis they are far from good. Two films out of 55 ot 60 is not great ration by any statndards.....

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Where are these 30 shopping malles and these screens???Please let me know I need to release a film very bad…Also the work on IMAX has stopped and for the past four months there is no development on it apparently the residents protested against it and the government is having second thoughts..fyi.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

well there all under construction and will take a long time to complete.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

y do we suddenly hear abt this new set up…why is sangeeta ‘ji’ making a whole noise over it…who r contesting…y r pervez rana n altaf hussain punching their fists…are in involved sumhow???..

Who cares? Not one of these people can make a decent movie if their life depended on it.

Suhaib: I don’t know what malls you’re talking about. In Karachi the main malls - like Dollman, Pak (Park?) Towers, The Forum, etc - they all do not have theatres attached to them.

Although that is the best idea. I proposed the idea in the economics forum, and someone there says they’ve looked into it and its not feasible, but I would beg to differ. If you attach some nice shops to it, and a resteraunt, I think it will run well. :k:

:clown: Maybe I might go do it someday if no one else does it. I have memon blood in me afterall! :clown:

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

i am talking about the malls u/c there is atrium mall in karachi wat i know off.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Atrium has a movie theatre? Its more like a mini-mall compared to Forum or Pak Towers. I have been to Atrium - never saw a movie theatre there.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Suhaib I live in Lahore and do not have an idea about any of them!!!!!!!!!! I only know of two screens that will be coming once a shopping mall comes up near Gaddafi Stadium and that should be sometime in two years time or so from now on. So far as I am concerned at the moment no 30 screens being constructed.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

which atrium is that, the atrium mall isnt even open yet and its bigger then the forum and pak towers.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

well i was talking about 30 malls, only some of them have screens in them.

there is aashiana center, target trade center, ahad tower, city center, boulevard heights(not sure about this), big city mall (not sure if it has a screen). which have screens in them. there is a few more is well with screens in them.

the project multifuction center is also gona have a big cineplex init, but that will take alot of time to complete.
here are details for it
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=191127

and are you sure that imax center construction has stoped cos i heard construction is happeneing there,

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

You know, I don't know where the hell I got the name "Atrium" from. I am thinking of Awami Markaz.

How did I know about Atrium when I never knew about it? :o

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

Suhaib the only development that I know about is the possible construction of a city centre opposite Gadafi Stadium and according to rough estimates that may take upto two years or more and that is supposed to haev some screens in it. By the way places like Ahad centre and all do not even have proper rest rooms let alone mulitiple screens. I have no idea about an atrium under construction maybe I am out of touch. However I do know that a lot of people claim they will invest but they eventually do not only when these places come up in actuality will I believe in them.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

well the city center is in DHA, the one near gaddafi stadium your talking about is sheik zayed center.

click below to see aashiana center on main boulevard gulberg

and here is the rooftop, you can see a cinema screen there.

ahad tower and target trade center have the same rooftop like that.

btw, international standard cineplexes would be made in lake city and bahria town is well, but it would take 2/3 years for that.

also a huge cineplex is to be made in the project at faltiss hotel site, but will take a few years again.

Re: Question for Mr Lucman / Mubasher Lucman Corner (Merged)

btw here is website for atrium mall

here is a construction update, from august, its nearly done only finishing work is left.
