Inshallah I’ll start to go to the gym regularly starting Tuesday. I used to go 4 days a week last year but then I moved to Houston and this office building does not have a gym, but my apartment complex does. So my goal is to go at least 6, if not 7, days a week. I will be running on the treadmill and also using the machine for arms and legs (not sure of the technical names).
My question is: Should I come home from work, eat, and THEN go to the gym…OR…should I come home from work, go to the gym, come back and THEN eat?
I don’t want to work out and then let the calories sit there but I also don’t want to work out right after eating because that’s not good.
My question is: Should I come home from work, eat, and THEN go to the gym........OR..........should I come home from work, go to the gym, come back and THEN eat?
.
you would have to eat a pre-workout meal and a post-workout meal.. (pre workout meal shud contain more carbohydrates and then protein. Post workout meal should contain anything that has protein in it.. get urself a protein shake cuz that's what ull be needing after workout, and after drinking that, eat anything rich in protein, carbs and healthy fat) now, if you eat at work then theres no point goin home first and then go to gym.. just go to gym after finishing your work..(provided ull eat at work).. if you dont eat at work..go home ..get something to eat ..wait like 15/20 mins..and go to gym.. come back and eat again.
I would workout, shower and then eat a little later, not because of any scientific reasoning but because it sounds more do-able to me. If I eat first, I might lose the motivation to get up and work-out. Other people who are more regular would know better tho!
Thanks.....That made sense. I eat lunch around 12 and I come home around 4:30, so I can go to the gym around 5 and then come back and eat dinner.
Can you give a few examples of carbs and protein foods? I absolutely have no idea what those may be.
I want to add to FF's reply...
when you eat your pre-workout meal make sure you do so 1-2 hrs before. A good pre-workout meal should include carbs such as brown or white rice, pasta's, breads...also be sure to add fruits which are packed with vitamins and some carbs which fuels your workout....bananas are always good to eat. Some also take a supplement 30 minz before their workout..this is just an option of course. Oh and dont forget to add some protein as well.
post-workout meal should always been eaten. nvr skip it! it doesnt have to be a big meal...something small can suffice as well. Post workout meals aids in recovery which is why it is necessary. You can drink a protein shake immediately after your workout and perhaps an hr later a meal which consists of a high protein diet....lean meats, chicken breasts, fish etc.
and as always...drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
Thank you all. Thanks for the examples Angel Eyes.
I normally eat a banana daily after lunch (around 3 or so) so it'll be perfect timing if I go to workout at 5. I just arrived back home and hopefully I'll be going there for the first time today. I am so tired but I will try my best to go.
The thing is that the gym is in the complex. So I don’t have to drive to go to the gym. The plan is that I will come home, change from work clothes straight into gym clothes and shut my eyes when I am passing by my laptop and go straight out and to the gym :halo: The plan also includes to take my wife with me, so there is no way she can be a distraction. I’ll find out how well my plan works :halo:
wherever i heard of not working out right after eating…:aq: If you choose to come home and eat and then go to the gym, you should wait atleast a couple hours before heading to the gym…
and yeah, whatever FrozenFire said, he seems know what he’s talking about
you heard right…you should eat at least 1-2 hrs prior to working out. Once i ate and spontaneously decided to go to the gym 45 minz later…I was a little bit slower, lazier, tired and my stomach was hurting
I meant on work days when I arrive home. Today I was off because I was traveling back from New Orleans.
I went for about 40 minutes. Used the treadmill, the one that you pull down with your arms, and the one that you push away with your feet, and the one that you push away with your hands. I don't know the technical names :D
