Get a bigger monitor already. 800 resolution was like a million years ago ... the arrangment looks just fine with 1280 .. again .. start getting used to it .. its perm.

People have raised valid concerns about the real estate..there are better ways to ignore or acknowledge them :-)

By the way, you must understand that we need to promote our websites and this change was inevitable. Things change, roll with them!

Nope, not closing yet. Did you not see a change as a result of this thread? *Every single person other than one has pointed to the problem, but did not give me a solution. *
Just a side note .. I manage a large team in a large healthcare company .. you know what I tell my team? Dont bring me a problem unless you have a solution for it. Same goes here. I know you are customers, but you all own this site too. Take some responsibility and try to understand what we are doing and provide alternatives, if any. I did not just wake up one morning and decide to go sidebar .. i had piloted the idea for about 4 months with various iterations ..
Read my message a few posts above again. I needed to create some space for various purposes. I did not throw these at you in the middle of your posts. I have been able to keep the layout max. to your habits. But something has got to be changed. So, it is. Now, get back to the drawing board and tell me if there's any other way I can create space on this board.

Tau Chaudhry sahb, kis naoi bola kai sidebar nahin banain for various purposes...Make a sidebar for whatever purposes you had in mind but let the quickies stay on top...GS was very maneuverable with the quickies on top...
Keep the quickies on top, create a sidebar (a little smaller than this one) and everyone will be happy...

First of all, everyone of you are doing an excellent job.
I am not an expert in this but will say that you guys might have used side bar and those small links to save time or space but I don’t think it helps. The reason why most of the guppies are opposing it is because it appears cluttered. The problem with the lots-of-links approach is that the reader will get confused by the abundance of choice.
I would prefer a set of elegant but limited choices like reduce KK 1 and 2 with just KK. Life 1 and 2 with life and so on with Img and Shor sharaba. After that the reader can scan through and look for whatever they are looking for…what do you think?

Please can we keep the Quickie side bar permanent... i have seen it on some websites where the side menu remains constant even if you scroll up/down ...
if you want to use the side area for adv/other links you may want to keep them there even if the users scroll the page up/down...

sami .. u dont know me enuf to say if i can stand ppl complaining or not .. go back and read my comments again ... i dont mind complains if these come with a solution or alternative .. Complains just just for complaining is called whining ... agree?
and you are not the first one to threat people leaving cuz of a change .. change is always hard ... comes with risks and benefits ... change managers have to weigh all these ... Not making changes just cuz it will make a few people unhappy is disservice to the others …
I understand that the new layout is difficult for some. I am sympathetic to the disturbance. But given my challenges, what are alternatives? Please don’t whine. Give me an alternative solution.
ps: I just saw your thumbnail .. in addition to my above lines, leme add that if you cannot engage in a civil manner, then dont start with me. i am sure you dont talk to your seniors in a manner you pictured above.

Its a new idea and will take time for memebers to get use to of it!...
Looks ok, but need some fascinating touches!
some comments on this!
- Use Arial font for side bar they are easy to read,
- Use linear formatting instead of all in one line
- Use different color for each line, at least use two colors for fonts or you can separate them with different back ground color,
- Use small pictures to make it easy in remembering and distinguishing without reading the whole link for each line
- Use maximum of 3 cm space or maximum 8% of the screen for this side bar
- Make this bar scrolling with the page down; meaning this bar must remain permanently all the time while we scroll up and down the page
- Try to make themes of whole page, in case visitors cn chose the theme, wether they like up-bar or side bar
- Break the up-bar into 2 lines now, so to reduce the extra page width

Very user unfriendly as many have said. If you are going to whore out Gupshup you shouldn't grossly carve it up with a knife before hand. When choosing a brothel 69% of visitors rated outward appearance very important. Take the Gupshup to a plastic surgeon not Babar the butcher.
And how dare you abbreviate the word religion, I might light this monitor on fire in protest.

Total bs change, sorry. Extremely prejudiced against people who have smaller resolution video adapters/monitors. Also those who browse GS at work in mini windows.
Alot of changes on GS are understandable and people get used to em. This one is a bit too bs. It is a blessing in disguise of sorts as it'll be a great help driving me away from GS.

can we atleast have a MINIMIZE option to where the Quickie bar completely disappears? Right now even when I minimize it, the Quickie option is still taking up 1/4 of the space on the right hadn side and it makes the post viewing area much smaller - a big nono IMO.

Many people in Pakistan do not have access to high res monitors or high speed connections. Think a little about us too for a change.
