Question about Shia Majalis?

I am a sunni but i have been to Shia majalis during muharram, and also seen it on television many times. I have a question about shia majalis.

Now during the majlis people say Nara Takbeer, Nara Risalat, Nara Haideri. But i have noticed that if someone says Nara Takbeer, some people will slowly say Allah Huakbar, and again the same thing happens if someone in majlis says Nara Risalat and some people will slowly reply and say Ya RasoolAllah.
But when someone says Nara Haideri, everyone in the crowd will loudly and enthusiastically say Ya Ali.

Now i am not saying that there is anything wrong with saying Ya Ali. Because some sunnis argue that saying Ya before anyone’s name except Allah is wrong especially if that person is deceased. But that is a very different argument and i don’t want to get into that.

My only question is why do shias in the majlis only say Nara Haideri loudly but not Nara Takbeer or Nara Risalat??
Sirf Nara Haideri hee kyon oonchi awaz say lagatay hain, baaki bhee to naaray hain?

I am sorry if i offended anyone with this post because it was not my intention.

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

Good question. Let me ask you a question a Christian elder asked me once. Why does the Muslim world react every time Prophet of Islam is insulted in any way yet there is hardly any trouble if God is questioned/mocked/insulted?

The answer I gave him was that to us Prophet of Islam is the line of distinction. It is not that we put our Prophet (saww) over God, no way is that possible. But he is the line that separates right from wrong and if that line is disturbed then ultimately how we even know God is disturbed. Similarly you need to ask whom the Prophet(saww) made the marked line between faith (emaan) and hypocricy (nifaaq)?

Next time you attend majlis, you should approach the speaker to ask whatever questions you might have. It is encouraged to ask in the school of Ahlul Bayt as Imam as Sadiq (as) says "“Verily, knowledge is a lock and its key is the question.”

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

didnt you notice same thing happens in sunni mehfil e naat if someone says Nara Takbeer, some people will slowly say Allah Huakbar, if someone in mehfil says Nara Risalat and everyone in the crowd will loudly and enthusiastically say Ya RasoolAllah and again the same thing happens if someone in mehfil says Ulema e Ahle Sunnat and everyone in the crowd will loudly and enthusiastically say Zindabad.
I think these are the trademarks.

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

^ So true - Shias emphasis on Ya Ali Ya Hussein

Bralawis emphasis on Ya Rasool Allah

Wahabis on Allahu Akbar or Ya Allah

To each his own :)

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

Peace All,

I think answer of the OP’s question is remained unanswered. Perhaps they love them more in sense not more than Almighty Allah and Prophet :saw2:

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

Well It’s the OP’s job to determine whether the question has been answered or not! Anyway in my humble opinion I agree with the above post where the brother has mentioned that it is a line of distinction between faith and hypocrisy. To show once enthusiasm for Ali(A.S) is to show enthusiasm for Emaan and thats only one of the reasons why we do it. It is our identity we are being killed because we say YA Ali(A.S) and by showing our enthusiasm for his name we send a message to the cowards that we are not afraid of death. You can kill us but his name will live on. There are many other reasons though and like the brother mentioned ask the Ulema they will give you a much more educated answer.

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

Peace Rari389,

Now that is the answer of the OP’s question. :k:

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

I have seen something really nice is Shia majalis where there is enthusiastic duroods and salawats each time name of Rasool Allah or his family member is mentioned. :k: these salutations are in far more quantity than nara e hyderi which are reserved for moments that suit expressions of enthusiasm.

Re: Question about Shia Majalis?

This question is more of Psyche than theology, 12ers as a minority cling tightly to their identitiy which is associatted with Ali and his family. This leads to the common accusation that 12ers venerate Ali more than Muhammad ( saw) which is not true, while they do hold their imams in higher regard than other pROPHETS.By loudly proclaiming "Ya Ali" they assert their determination to remain a distinct community within muslims.
